Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to show my city to travelers, give advice on places to visit in Michigan, and host when I can. I also like to get to know local areas when I travel, I would love to know where to find local farmers markets, or your favorite parks.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I made the account many years ago, but then never really used it. I'm hoping to get to experience more of the community soon :)
Interests
Building vibrant communities is important to me, I like to do that through sport, food, travel, nature, and games.
I play for my university's Ultimate Frisbee team, and that takes up much of my free time. When I'm not running around throwing discs, I like to cook. I am always curious to try new food and learn about new recipes!
I love to be outdoors and have never met an animal I didn't like. That said, I'd love to host your pets as well!
I like to stay active and am always swimming, biking, or tramping through the woods in the summer.
In the winter you will find me tending to my houseplants for a little green time, and enjoying the snow whenever possible through skiing, iceskating, or sledding.
TV doesn't interest me a bunch, I prefer to play games with my friends and family when we are hanging out, and would be happy to show you some of my favorite card games.
It's all about building a community of many sorts of people who can share experiences together :)

Music, Movies, and Books
One of my favorite ways to get to know someone is to hear what music they like. I am always open to hearing something new!
My favorite music is folk/indy. Some of my favorite artists include The Head and The Heart, Hozier, Gregory Alan Isakov, Of Monsters and Men, Frightened Rabbit, Young the Giant, WALK THE MOON, Maggie Rogers, and Right Away, Great Captain!.
Books:
I used to read impossible amounts of fiction from the library, but somehow being in university has decreased that. I will always have a soft spot for Harry Potter. Other great books in no particular order include:
Slaughterhouse 5- Kurt Vonnegut
Little Women- Louisa May Alcott
The Alchemist
The Little Prince
The Book Thief
The Sea of Trolls trilogy
Let's Pretend This Never Happened - Jenny Lawson (funniest book I've ever read)
Movies/TV:
Not a big movie person, but when I do watch I generaly prefer comedies :) I have watched all of The Office and 30 Rock
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived in Germany for a year with a host family while I was in high school.
Teach, Learn, Share
Happy to help you practice English or German, and I could use plenty of help with Spanish. I really love Michigan, the state I grew up in, and would be very happy to tell you about all the beautiful natural places you can visit there.
I like to learn about people through the food they eat, and to share mine with them.
I am also interested in plants, if you have any knowledge about gardening and farming I would like to know more, and wouldn't mind getting down in the dirt with you.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy cooking and would be happy to cook a meal for or with you :)
I also think it's very important to laugh, and will be happy to share funny stories with you.
