About Me

Hey! I'm a former long-term traveler who decided it was time to get a job and stay in one place for a while. I've been in Seattle for several years now and like it a lot, though I think the time is coming when I need to get back out on the road for a while. While I'm still here though, I have the chance to repay the kindness so many hosts and random people have shown me over many years of roaming!

I've lived in a few different countries over the years, and am always interested in meeting fantastic new people from all over the world! I am often outside and always up to try something new. Recently acquired hobbies are tap dancing, yoga, and puzzle hunts. By now I have some favorite spots in the city and lots of fun things to do, which you're welcome to join me in! I speak English (hopefully at a native level...) and am conversational in Chinese and Spanish, although of course I need more practice in both. I recently moved to a new apartment right downtown, fulfilling a long-term dream. The views are amazing and I'm enjoying it while I can!

A quick note about hosting - I generally don't host anyone for more than two or three days... I like having a bit of alone time, too. If you are planning on staying in Seattle for longer than that, just request the first few days and if we are getting along really well, maybe you can stay a bit longer. Or break up your stay between a couple of hosts. Also, I apologize if I don't respond to your request... I get a lot of them (especially in the summer), and can't always respond to them all! If you want a better chance of getting accepted (with me or anyone else on here), take a little time to tell me why you think we'll get along well, and tell me something interesting about yourself.

Hola!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I lived abroad for several years and will probably do it again sometime, but now that I'm stuck in one place I miss all of the interesting people I used to meet. Plus, I know how much more enjoyable my travel experiences are when I can meet up with someone who knows the area, so I want to give that to everyone coming through my neck of the woods!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading - I go through spurts. My last few books have been "How High we Go in the Dark" and "The French Revolution." When I travel I always read books from the countries I'm traveling through, so if you have any recommendations, tell me! I am more interested in a great storyteller than experimental writing, although I enjoy a "high-faluting classic" once in a while. My all-time favorite is "The Phantom Tollbooth," but more recently I've loved "Les Miserables" and "A Fine Balance."

I don't watch too many movies, but I tend to love nonsense comedies; Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, and the Anchorman/Stepbrothers/Role Models type. I go crazy for mindfuck movies.

As for music, my tastes center on Alt and Classic Rock; Fountains of Wayne and Walk the Moon are recent favorites, Billy Joel an all-time fave.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one? Okay... Rode on top of an iron ore train across the Sahara Desert in Mauritania.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: What do you want to learn? If I can't teach you we can learn it together. Learn: I'm really into international cooking right now... Teach me a dish that you cook at home!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My life. My food (I like learning new recipes!). My stories. And, of course, a comfy place to stay.
