Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I do this to broaden my horizons. I also hope this will be a financially realistic way explore my environment.
ABOUT ME
I read. I am kinda shy, so I thought this might be a good way to get out there and operate outside of my comfort zone. I want to be able to travel more and meet nice and interesting people but have been hampered down with the pursuit of a career and the sundry responsibilities of adulthood. I volunteered last summer at a Korean Baptist Church (but am agnostic/atheist) for their Summer-school program and really liked it. I am slightly musically inclined. I played clarinet, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone in high school but didn't get back into it until this year (alto sax).
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy? Try my best to not hurt people, have compassion (especially since I know what it is like for other shy people specifically), step outside my comfort zone once in a while (starting small), always help my friends out, DO those random silly ideas to brighten someone's day you normally rationalize (i.e. buy someone that candy bar they had to put back, make someone their favorite food just because, GIVE someone the money they need to borrow, etc).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I mostly want to be on the surfing end of the spectrum since I am still a college student living in housing. Meeting new people within the community will give me a stronger sense of belonging in this city that I'm still getting used to.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've never couch-surfed. The closest experiences I have are staying in hostels with my father when we'd travel. That was always fun.
Interests
Reading, music, Vibram five-finger shoes, exploring my urban environment, bike riding the trails here in Anchorage, running in my five-fingers and feeling the ground beneath me, climbing things, learning piano, not my statistics studing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a week long trip along the Alaska coast in a place called Lituya Bay. We climbed up the rock fan and ALMOST made it to the alpine (had to turn back within fifty feet, long and disappointing story), climbed through the matchstick forest created by the tidal wave there, and kayaked up to the glacier. Also got lost with three other girls atop a mountain in Haines and after successfully getting to the bottom, almost missed the last van only to almost run over a moose when pulling out of the parking lot. Semi-amazing: Biked to and from Kincaid park last summer from UAA multiple times.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn how to do leather-work. Mask making to be specific. I am going to attempt the art this summer.
I can teach hemp-necklace making, the Russian Alphabet, the ASL alphabet, basic phrases/signs in both.
