About Me

I've always wanted to see the world, so I decided to start my own travel blog about the few places I have been and eventually the places that I plan to go. My plan right now is to choose a place, go there, meet people, make friends, and go on adventures. I'm usually up for anything and I don't mind helping out. If you're hosting me, I'm going to be very thankful and wanting to help in anyway I can. Read my "Teach, Learn, Share" section for more!

I'm currently not able to host because I'm traveling and do not have a permanent residence.

I don't have any references yet (yes, I'm a newbie), but I do have a website that you can checkout if you want to make sure I'm human: TravelingKen.com

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to travel the world and blog about my adventures. I'm hoping to find some nice open-minded people to stay with during my travels and make long lasting friendships with people around the world. And hopefully, I can also offer the same level of friendship and fun times with the people I meet up with.

Once I get settled at the end of my traveling, I plan on being a host myself, that way I can show others an amazing time and possibly host some of the people that end up hosting me!

Interests

Travel, food, coffee, tea, learning about different cultures and people, expanding my knowledge. I can become interested in almost anything for atleast a short period of time, I tend to be a bit hyperactive when it comes to hobbies, one day I'll be working on wrtiting a novel, the next day I'm working on a song, though, as I mentioned above, the few things that stick are traveling, enjoying coffee and tea, and food.

A few types of things that leave me in awe are big cities, beautiful beaches, and amazing structures (ie: CN Tower, Sears Tower, St. Louis Arch, almost everything in Las Vegas, etc.)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love discovering new music and will listen to just about anything. I can enjoy everything from reggae, metal, rock, industrial, electronic, dance, and a lot of "world" music as it's called here in the US. Not a fan of american country music though.
I love movies, anything with a strong cerebral edge I find to be very entertaining, films like Mulholland Dr., Fight Club, Memento, Trance, Lost Highway. Anything by Stanley Kubrick, Gasper Noe, David Lynch, Christopher Nolan, Takashi Miike, or the Coen brothers.
My favorite authors are Clive Barker, Hunter S. Thompson, and Michael Crichton. I don't read a whole lot though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently conquered my greatest fear which was flying. I now know I have the ability to travel overseas and fulfill my travel bucket-list!

I know that "flying in a plane" may seem a bit silly, but it was a big deal for me personally. I've gotten to the top of Warrior Mountain in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, made a 15 hour drive straight through during my first solo road trip, saw a shuttle launch at Cape Canaveral, Florida, stood on a glass floor 108 stories up above the city of Chicago while exploring the Sears Tower, and several other things, but conquering my fear of flying is the biggest for me personally so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a certificate in TEFL which I plan to use at some point while traveling as an income option when necessary which will more than likely be in Vietnam, so I can give English lessons for free if you're hosting me! I can also assist with computer help. If you want me to show you something technical or are having issues with your desktop/laptop/tablet, I can lend a hand.

I'm currently learning German and would love to learn almost any language someone is willing to teach me! I also love learning about different customs and I usually have a habit of absorbing information, ecspecially when I'm traveling!

Something I can share is my unique ability to make awesome movie recommendations to almost anyone despite genre interest. I can also share knowledge on computers (as I stated above), some photography tricks I've learned, and any traveling tricks I've learned along the way!
