About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Dream as if I'm going to live forever....and then figure out what to do with my life until then...

ABOUT ME

Starting my PhD at OSU right now after 2 years of med school here...and freaking out a bit to say the least. Making the jump to do this was one of those things that you know is right for you, but takes a bit of getting used to. I travel whenever I can...I love Columbus, but after 6 years here, I need to escape too. I've been going to Europe since I was 4 visiting family there and I've been addicted to it ever since. Everything about it there is amazing...public transportation, recycling, and everything else in between. Because of my crazy and very unpredictable work schedule I don't get to travel nearly as much as I'd like to, but I enjoy every second of it when I do get a chance. Hostelling and couch surfing are by far my favorite way to travel. You meet people instead of being anonymous guests at hotels...besides there's much more to experience this way. I'm still trying to figure out a lot of things about life and myself...while balancing this with my end goals in medicine. A lot harder to do than it sounds, but I'm gradually getting there and am always looking for something new or some new perspective that maybe will make me understand my position in life a little better.
I'm absolutely obsessed with getting to the West Coast in the future (residency/fellowship, maybe even permanently). I've only been to Seattle (twice), but I'm really excited to come out take the train and ride my bike all over on my trip in September. There's so much to do and see out there and I want to make the most of my time there.

PHILOSOPHY

Things don't come to you when you're looking for them...they appear when you're least expecting them, but you have to be prepared to recognize them when they do appear.

To those that much is given...much is expected of.

Interests

cycling, spicy food, not driving, backyard gardening, travel (obviously), learning languages, random wandering, public transportation

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Northern lights while canoeing with my dad in northern Canada after high school graduation. We were 30 miles from the nearest car and not an artificial light was anywhere in sight. We didn't realize what it was for about 10 minutes then just sat there on a cliff overlooking the lake for the rest of the time.
