ABOUT ME

I'm a Life Lover!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that life is a what you decide you want it to be. Choices lead to experiences. That we have the power to create whatever we want. I've been choosing adventure and it's been working out for me so far. Very happy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been on the Couchsurfing website for several years now, but I have more or less been participating in the couchsurfing lifestyle for more than twenty years. I developed a hiker's hostel on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina which hosted hikers from all over the world. I had a tipi and many cool campsites all without charge. I am now developing an organic farm with lots of fruit trees and gardening space. I hope to have interesting people come for a visit. My farm is about nine miles from Asheville, NC in a town called Candler. I can offer rides into town once a day. Just now returning from Poland and I may possibly be spending several months this winter exploring Ecuador Y Chile.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I Feel like I was couchsurfing before there was a couchsurfing website, I have spent time biking across the USA, I've hitchhiked to Alaska, driven through Mexico and Costa Rica, spent six months in France, adventured through Peru, Argentina, Cuba, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Greece and most of Europe, have had incredible experiences with everyone I've met. I have also invited hundreds of people from around the world to share any place that I've owned, leading to having many cool friends and great times. Loving Life!

Interests

My interests include traveling, gardening, making new friends, music, learning languages for the next place I'm going to travel, Hiking, Staying fit, Canoeing, Mucho mas!

Music, Movies, and Books

Have been reading a lot of spiritual books, have read most of the Edgar Cayce material, all of the Seth Books, have been studying A course in Miracles for the past several years. Also, I love reading books on alternative building styles. I just finished the process of building a home on my farm. Love watching movies of all types depending on my mood. Love most types of music, play a little guitar and just got a hold of a tenor sax which I'm relearning a little...haven't played since high school.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess if I had to choose one I think a lot about one of the first long trips I took with my brother Mike. We had wanted to travel to Alaska for years, but never thought we could afford it. After my time at the University, my brother was just returning from the first Iraq war, we just decided to go. We each had a backpack with minimal gear, enough food for a couple weeks and $79 between us. Anyway, we traveled for almost three months, mostly living on whatever we could find or catch and met many incredible people that helped take care of us. We crafted rafts and floated the Yukon river for ten days, hitchhiked most of the roads through Alaska. We also spent a week partying in Anchorage then worked in Valdez the last week of travels and earned $800 each. Enough money to travel for another three months on a beat up mountainbike across the southwestern USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

My brother and I have spent many years learning outdoor skills and many ways to stay comfortable while camping. I am learning a lot about permaculture. I am growing lots of food and have a large fruit orchard and organic gardens. I also have gained a little knowledge about places in the world and love inspiring others to spend time on the road. I feel that this a great way to get an education. Oh Yeah, I've owned several VW vanagons and have gained a good amount of mechanical knowledge.
