About Me
I'm Joe, I missed being able to travel around during the last few years and now I'm enjoying a trip around Europe, seeing where I end up.
I'm friendly and extrovert, I love meeting new people, finding out about the world and trading travel stories, and I'm also a respectful guest when visiting someone's home. I use couchsurfing to meet cool people and because I don't just want to see a new place from a tourist perspective. I've hosted a bunch of people at different times in different places, not all listed here on CS unfortunately, but I understand how the platform should work from a hosting and visiting perspective.
I've travelled a lot and lived in Asia for 6 years, in China and Vietnam, as well as a year in Berlin. I always try to see a mixture of local life, culture, nature and history on a trip, and maybe mix a night out or an adventure in there too. I've always been a sucker for tracing a new route on a map and trying to follow it in real life - I've done a few cool overland trips in South America and Asia like this.
I used to party quite a lot, but in recent years have I've calmed it down; I don't drink alcohol any more because my stomach is quite bad, but I'm still happy going out to bars and parties. If as a host you want to take me to a local bar, I'm definitely up for it. I'm also an amateur comedian, I love laughing and I've got a bunch of silly jokes I can tell you if you want.
Professionally, I was most recently working for a start-up accelerator; I've also worked as a hiking guide, hostel receptionist, English teacher and once founded a company sending prospective English Teachers to China. Since January this year I've been job hunting, travelling around a bit, and am currently on an extended trip in Denmark, working and living at a hostel in Aarhus which has been great fun.
Now after leaving Aarhus I'm heading to Copenhagen, Berlin and then who knows where.
If you want to know more about me you can look at my facebook, my travel blog (unfortunately didn't get round to publishing as many articles as I hoped), or just ask me!
