About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Prepare for the next few hectic months.

ABOUT ME

I am an actor and I also work at Auckland Zoo. These are my main passions in life at the moment, as well as an unrelenting thirst for science! I am driven by my desire for learning, my need for conservation and my love of acting.

I like to think I'm very friendly, outgoing, confident, fun and approachable.

I don't drink, smoke or take drugs but it doesn't stop me from having a good time. I tend to prefer house-party scenes to bar/nightclub scenes and I also can enjoy quiet nights with friends too.

PHILOSOPHY

I think you can get a feeling from the rest of this page what my philosophies are and once you get to know me, it doesn't take long.

"Keep an open mind, but not so open as so your brain falls out."

"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My girlfriend and I heard about CouchSurfing while on an eight month round-the world trip in 2012. It really turned the trip into something amazing with the people we met, the places we saw and the stories we heard

I quickly convinced my parents to host while we surfed and they loved it too. Then when we got home and settled, we opened our couch to travellers to come stay with us so we could pay forward our gratitude.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love the idea and the people I've met have been mostly fantastic, I honestly don't know how we would have managed without CouchSurfing. It is so good to see so many people from all over the world willing to help out a stranger with accommodation and travel tips amongst other things. We saw and experienced so much more than we would ever have done without a local's knowledge. We also made our money go so much further than we would have otherwise.

Interests

I love mathematics, science and technology. I never really enjoyed many lessons at school, but now I can't get enough of learning new things.

Obviously, being an actor, I love films, television and theatre.

And also obviously, working at a zoo, I adore animals, conservation, nature, and biology.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like a wide variety. I like mostly indie, but often other stuff too. I like current hits and oldies alike. Just a few examples: Elvis, MJ, Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Frank Sinatra, Aerosmith, Stereophonics, The Killers, (in no particular order.) The only stuff I can't get into is hardcore death metal and screaming stuff, (Korn, Slipknot, etc.) but to each their own.

Movies: I like a LOT of movies. I do tend to analyse them though, (which my girlfriend hates) so I can't enjoy a rubbish movie with a naff script, poor acting or questionable direction. I can find a gaff quite easily though I'm getting better at keeping it to myself! A few examples of ones I like: The Harry Potter series, original Star Wars trilogy, the James Bond series, LotR, sci-fi movies, action movies, drama movies, comedy movies, animated movies, even a couple of romantic movies, oh, and anything with Tom Hanks in it. I really hate horror films though!

Books: I enjoy reading but don't make time too often. I find I'm more motivated to read fiction so I should try read more non-fiction. A few examples: Harry Potter, Dan Brown novels, James Patterson novels, some Dean Koontz novels, a good biography, educational books if they're written well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I emigrated to New Zealand on my own when I was 18. I took two weeks and went via Dubai and Singapore. Extremely unforgettable.

I travelled the Western world for eight months in 2012 with my girlfriend. Lots of memories made from that time.

We also travelled Europe for five months in 2014.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you facts about a vast number of animals from working at the zoo. Perhaps I could teach you how to juggle too. I understand quite a lot about the fundamentals of language so I could teach you some English skills.

I love to learn so I'm happy to try learn foreign languages, how to cook, or anything you talk about with passion.

Obviously, I can share travel stories galore and I can talk for hours! Especially about New Zealand. It's a wonderful place. Or conservation. I spend my days at the zoo urging people to buy palm oil free and I'm very passionate about it.
