About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see the world, and to do everything!

ABOUT ME

An Australian, living in Denmark for 3 years for work reasons.

In general, I live a nomadic life, wandering around the world doing interesting projects or just travelling for the fun of it.

Grew up in Sydney, Australia.
Trained as an engineer and have worked in some interesting places around the world through this work (e.g. Antarctica, Middle East).

Passionate about developing solutions (technical and social) that will enable us all to live happy, fun lives without trashing our local and global environments.

Work as a consultant in the 'sustainable energy' and 'business/project development' field - doing everything from planning big research projects to teaching specialist university courses on engineering in Antarctica.

Also involved in "Engineers Without Borders-Australia", assisting communities in south east asia with projects that they think are important(Cambodia in 2007) and teaching/passing on skills to other people.

My true 'home' is in Tasmania, Australia.

PHILOSOPHY

I really believe (and practice) that it is wise (and fun) to have the courage to take risks and always follow your heart and passions. It is a lot easier to do than you think, some amazing things can happen when you do, and who knows when your personal circumstances could dramatically change and limit your options (for good or bad).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

tell a lot of other travellers about the site ... and now finally get off my ass and start using it myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been surfing the couches of friends, and friends met through friends etc for the past 10 years.

Interests

the wonders of travelling, understanding different people and cultures, identifying ways that we can still lead interesting lives (like a lot of travelling) but not have such an impact on the natural environment, teaching and learning new things, sustainable development, aid and development

Music, Movies, and Books

generally any books that I can get my hands on - particularly when travelling and carrying books is such a pain; Currently reading a lot of Haruki Murakami - have compiled almost a complete library of his work at a friend's house in Norway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flew around Antarctica in a helicopter for a few days - and got paid to do it.

Teach, Learn, Share

... you don't need as much of your 'stuff' as you think you do. Walk off with just your bag / backpack and you'll soon be relieved that you don't have to worry about all those things.

Countries I’ve Visited
