About Me
After leaving the British Army after 26 years, I decided to go backpacking around the world for 16 months starting from Poland and finishing off in Brazil. I returned back to UK and found myself a job and started saving and now i am back travelling again but with no idea how long I will be back on the road.
I am a cheerful bloke who looks on the bright side of life. I'm clean and tidy although all I own is 4 pairs of shorts and 5 t shirts.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The main reason for couch surfing is i love to meet new people who will tell me about their lives, their town/city and introduce me to how they live. I have stayed in so many hostels and everyone seems interested in seeing the sights but not finding out about the people who live there. I'm interested in learning about the area that I'm in, hence why I'm travelling the world. I'm good at conversation and always ready to learn about the cultures of where I am. I can tell you all about my travels but could take a few hours and give you a better introduction to UK if you haven't been there before.
Interests
I love travelling and the history of places, I'm like a sponge when it comes to that sort of thing taking as much as I can take in. I love to walk around for hours. I'm passionate on learning why a country is the way it is, through looking at museums, talking to local people and finding out about the history. As an Englishman I am partial to a glass or 2 of beer or wine (red) but tend not to do too much as hangovers are not good to me.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music I LOVE, from classical to 80's pop, hard rock to ballads. I love my music in that I will usually have a set of headphones in when I'm doing anything.
When it comes to movies then I love Disney, comedies (from romcom to gross out), Sci Fi in fact I haven't got a typical genre. My all time favourite film is 'Still Crazy' which no one has ever heard of.
Books I like has to be Dan Brown as i love the thought that there are conspiracy theories out there that he has unraveled. There are a few writers who have tried to copy his type of work and I've read them, but Dan Brown is the master. I also love Terry Pratchett as his sense of humour is something I recognise in me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In my mind the most amazing thing I have done is what I am doing now. To be able to drop everything you had planned on, and then just go out and travel the world is amazing. I have seen some incredible countries, met some awesome people, done some crazy things and had a lifetime of experience that will stay with me forever. Things like walking around the Kremlin in Moscow, walking along the Great Wall of China, swimming with whale sharks and 300 year old turtles, sailing around on a locals boat round Indonesia for 4 days and so much more....
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my experiences of my world travel and i am wanting to learn all about the cultures from where I will be staying.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to say I can cook and I could share an amazing meal but unfortunately I can just about cook toast. Everyone I have met is fascinated with England and what we are about from anything to do with football (soccer) or Royal family and I can tell you all about it. I always bring a bottle of wine with me, so need to know if its red or white that I should turn up with!
