关于我

Howdy!

First and foremost, ya gotta love my bestie Tuxedo -- the little black and white cutie in my picture!!! He is 120% the love of my life and he will change yours should you have the chance to meet him.

My name, however, is Travis Fleak Burdick and I am a recovering academic from Texas A&M University (15, 19, 21 for you Aggies out there).

I wanted to be a Doctor of Global Medicine, but I got burnt out through COVID as an Infectious Disease Epidemiologist. Through the world of social-media and reality TV, got bit by the real estate bug and imbedded myself pretty deeply there as both an entrepreneur, investor, and real estate advisor. My specialty is in referrals and relocations as I have made relationships globally and I love to work with first time home buyers as well -- basically the freshman of the real estate world -- lots of coaching and lots of educational moments!

Professional funzies aside, I’m the guy who turns strangers into lifelong friends over coffee, late-night conversations, and spontaneous adventures.

Based in Austin, I spend most of my time building relationships across real estate, tech, and family office networks — but honestly, what I care about most is people. I love understanding how someone thinks, what drives them, and what they’re building in life.

I’m equally at home in a boardroom, a beach town, or a random dinner with people I met 2 hours ago. I travel with a swimsuit, say yes to experiences, and will absolutely stop mid-conversation to pet a dog.

I cook without recipes, read books that look like they’ve lived a life, and I’m the kind of person who will stay up way too late if the conversation is good enough.

If we hang out, expect depth, laughs, and probably a few unexpected plans.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I’m not here for a free place to stay — I’m here for people, memories, pictures, and lots of laughs.

The best parts of travel have never been the places… it’s always been the conversations, the random connections, and the moments that weren’t planned. From biking 60 km through the jungles of Banos, Ecuador -- to drinking ungodly amounts of chartreuse with French travelers -- to sharing leftover pasta in a casino before going night-yachting... the spontaneity and rich community of Couchsurfing has become a springboard for me to see the world through the eyes of locals.

I want to meet people who are curious, open, and building something — whether that’s a business, a life, or just a new perspective; and I’d rather share a meal and a story than stay in a hotel by myself.

I am on couch surfing because I want to help others who love to travel find an affordable way to visit places they’ve never been AAAAAND I want to extend the opportunity to share my favorite gems in Austin whilst learning about all the other unique gems of the world!

During the time that I was in College at Texas A&M, I was the King of all things College Station, showing people all of the rich traditions that Texas A&M University! Now I’m in AUSTIN! Over the years, I’ve learned that there are so many cool things that you learn from a local that you will never ever be able to experience if you only visit a place once as a topical tourist! I am here to encourage others to explore and stay curious whilst they travel!

音乐、电影和书籍

TLDR - Pretty much anything you can dance to! I love Ariana Grande, Texas Country, and 60s.

Music:
Anything that fits the moment — from chill acoustic to high-energy playlists. Big fan of music that feels like it belongs in a memory.

Movies:
— Thought-provoking Films — movies that either make you think or make you feel something real — Inception, Interstellar, The Social Network, anything with depth or strong character arcs.
—Animated Movies — I think that the life lessons of the world are wrapped in the storylines of more children-esque movies — Finding Nemo, Inside Out, Aladdin
— TV Shows — a good comedy or something that keeps you engaged with the characters

Books:
—I’m drawn to books that look like they’ve been passed around — worn pages, notes in the margins. I notate across text which is my way of sharing what I think is wholesome syntax vs. just extra words to hit a quota
—Topics usually revolve around psychology, business, human behavior, and philosophy.
— Best place to snag a book is from a neighborhood book library, the ones that look like little bird houses

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Sometimes I feel like I’ve lived multiple lives -- academia -- medicine -- RE -- I think the most amazing thing that I've done is absorb the microdetails of life that have allowed me to become a curated connector; someone who learns about others and helps them to grow as a person. Connections that translate into real opportunities, partnerships, and long-term relationships. There’s something wild about introducing two people and watching it change the trajectory of their lives… and realizing that relationships are the real currency.

If this was an action... I helped develop the formula for Old Spice Fiji -- thats a story and a half.

教,学,和分享

Wisdom is best shared over food and drink, so good thing I know how to cook and make cocktails! LOL I honestly think learning is just based on communication and the building of interpersonal relationships... so I love a good story and probably have one for just about any situation!

I can teach:
— How to make the best old fashioned lol
— How to build meaningful, high-value relationships
— Networking without being transactional
— Real estate fundamentals and deal thinking
— How to ask better questions and actually connect

I want to learn:
— How other people see the world
— Different cultures, habits, and ways of living
— New skills, perspectives, and random niche knowledge
— Anything you’re passionate about

I’m happy to share:
— Stories, experiences, and ideas
— Good meals and great conversations
— Connections if there’s alignment

我可以与沙发主分享些什么

Succinctly - A lot of laughs and a good bottle of wine! Stories, memories, and a great network all across the world!

More detailed:
— Good energy and genuine curiosity
— A great conversation partner (and listener)
— A solid home-cooked meal (no recipe, but it’ll be good)
— Respect for your space and your time
— Potentially some very interesting introductions down the line
