ABOUT ME

i'm passionate about the environment, sustainable agriculture & land stewardship, philosophy, music, and literature. i love to be outdoors, hiking and identifying (especially edible) plants and teaching others to do the same. spent 2011 wwoofing in FL and NM and traveling all the way across the country with a kitten. recently spent 7 months doing a biodynamic farming apprenticeship through NABDAP in WA state, completed a permaculture design course and am a native plant steward in Seattle, WA. this fall, i'm headed to costa rica for an internship in natural building! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

have had absolutely phenomenal times surfing on the west coast and up into vancouver, as well as on a stop through chattanooga. every host and fellow surfer i've met has been unbelievably welcoming, hospitable, flexible and enlightening!

surfing with the nanaimo family in vancouver was one of the best weeks of my life. climbing that mountain in secondhand boys' soccer shoes was the ultimate in punishment + reward. helped build an outdoor kitchen in florida. milked goats in new mexico. rode on a float in the LA pride parade. backpacked in the badlands and the grand tetons.

i know a bit about identifying and foraging wild edible plants, thanks to the tutelage of a brilliant ecologist i stayed with in florida and a stewardship program in king county, WA - my curiosity about nature is consuming, and i love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with others. :)
