About Me

I have room to host two people in the living room of my one bedroom bungalow apartment. One comfy sofa that could possibly sleep two.

I have a baby sphynx kitten who’s pretty much my whole world right now. Being extra selective who I host and let around my sweet little bat child (see photos to understand).

UPDATE: TWO (!) sphynx kittens now!! I adopted Andromeda’s three legged sister. So prepare for cuteness overload if you stay with me and don’t be allergic to cats.

I live in a small complex of individual bungalow apartments surrounded by banana trees and lush vegetation, it’s really pretty. Not a place for loud parties since it’s a quiet little community. I just moved in June so I’m still getting things together but I think it’s already pretty nice :)

Grew up in rural Michigan, lived in New York City for six years after graduating university, then lived in Oxford, UK from November 2014 until June 2015. After that backpacked all over Europe and the Middle East for a year and a half by hitchhiking and staying with locals, often through couchsurfing. Now I’m hosting Couchsurfer’s as a way of paying back all the generosity I received and meeting lovely foreigners now that I’m not traveling all the time. I have an active social life and work a lot so I might be busy, but I’ll try to host you and hang out if I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm interested in meeting new people and learning new ways of looking at things. Travel can be a way of challenging the way you view the world, but only if you allow yourself to immerse with others and listen to what they have to say. That takes effort. It's been my goal all throughout my travel experiences and continues to be something I find important as I meet people living locally and host travelers.

Interests

Cycling, climbing, hiking, history, photography, urbex, ways of living.

I like taking pictures, see my Instagram for a look at how I see the world: https://instagram.com/trevorbriggeman/

Music, Movies, and Books

Five favorite books I've read recently:

All Quiet on the Western Front - Erich Maria Remarque
Slaughter House Five - Kurt Vonnegut
Unbearable Lightness of Being - Milan Kundera
Station Eleven - Emily St. John Mandel
All the Pretty Horses - Cormac McCarthy

I love something from all genres of music. Big budget action films have started to bore me. None of this section is relevant to if you should want to stay with someone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I won the HungaroHitch hitchhiking race in Hungary! 2100km in 2.5 days.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you a bit about photography and I make good scrambled eggs. I've recently become interested in making copper electroplated jewelry. I can share my knowledge of cheap travel and I have GPS coordinates saved for some pretty neat places I've been in Europe and the Middle East.
