About Me

My kids are grown and have left the nest. I'm deeply in and totally loving my kids are grown and with my 2nd husband phase of life. :-) Currently living on a small 2 acre property in south central Florida. When my husband and I aren't traveling or working, we're spending all our time on renovating and making this property into a functioning homestead. Currently in the process of building a small greenhouse and garden beds.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my own travels I have met some of the most amazing people that shared stories and experiences that have shaped my opinions and thoughts in wonderful ways and changed how I see the world. I love people who share the traveler spirit and I think this is a great way to connect.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like a lot of music but favorites are blues/soul, 90's alt, and indie acoustic.

Movies: I've rewatched Pride and Prejudice a million times. Definitely my favorite. Give me a sappy romance with a good script and I'm all over it.

Books: Love the complexity of the Enders Game series. A longtime creepy favorite is The Blood of Angels. Completely obsessed with all Jane Austen novels. Shameful secret are my trashy fantasy romance novels and really dry self help books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Played with wild dolphins off the coast of Caladesi Island during a kayaking trip.

Hiked to the bases of two active volcanoes and stood in their hardened lava flows in Costa Rica and Iceland.

While living briefly in Australia, I befriended a foot and a half long blue tongued skink that ate tuna from my hand at lunchtime every day. Also while there, I encountered one of the deadliest animals in the sea, the blue ringed octopus....twice and about an inch from my foot.

I, along with my daughters, ran a self sustaining small farm and raised dairy goats, quail, turkey and chickens in rural Missouri for several years.

I homeschooled all 3 of my daughters who are now grown, smart, articulate, unique and interesting young women.

I was a foster parent to teenage girls for 7 years.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My husband and I are incredibly laid back people. We have 3 large, very obnoxiously sweet dogs (2 goldendoodles and 1 bernedoodle). I have tons of stories and love chatting if you'd like to. I've been told I'm pretty funny and I'd love to make new friends from this experience.
