Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Live in the moment, embrace the challenge.

ABOUT ME

I'm an internet person. I spend a lot of time using it in a variety of ways. I love it. Some people may think that's a bad thing. I don't. :)

I'm sort of a homebody. I like to relax and spend time with friends in small groups, just talking and eating good food and playing games. I could sit out on a porch and talk for hours and hours. It's so much more fun to me than going out to places with loud music and lots of people.

I don't drink much, but I'm not opposed to it. It just doesn't do it for me. I don't smoke cigarettes and the smell of them really bothers me and makes me sick if I'm around it much.

I'm a sensitive lady.

I've been taking static trapeze lessons for the last year and I'm absolutely enamored with it. I have a wrist injury and as soon as I can get that fixed up, I'm going back to Vermont to pursue more training at the New England Center for Circus Arts, where I was taking classes.

I also do some hula hooping and have tried other various circus stuff (stilting, pole and wire walking, German wheel)

I like hiking, but don't do a lot of it because I don't have any hiking buddies and solo hiking is not something I'm comfortable with for safety reasons.

I like to read. I love Pilates and am considering becoming a certified instructor because it is something I'm very passionate about. Sometimes I like to dance, more in class form than just out and about. I'd love to be a professional modern dancer.

I LOVE baking. I have to maintain a gluten free diet, which spurred my baking efforts and made me realize that it's something I'm very passionate about. I bake non gluten free stuff too, for other people, which is hard because I can't taste it, but I have lots of people who are willing to taste test. If you host me, I just might bake you something. Or bring you something I baked.

I also love making handmade greeting cards. I hope to be good enough to sell them someday.

I love taking photos. I'm trying to learn more about that.

I also love music, especially indie folk kinda stuff (think Fleet Foxes, Iron and Wine, Mountain Man), but my musical interests are vast.

My dream in life is to have a circus farm where I can grow my own food and flowers, raise goats and chickens, have circus classes, and people can help take care of the farm in exchange for room and board while they train. Maybe I'll run the Pilates studio, bakery, and greeting card shop there too. =p

I have a degree in Environmental Studies from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. I've done a lot of jobs that have next to nothing to do with that. Right now I'm working at a natural foods grocery store in the produce and floral department.

I'm originally from Chandler, AZ but have traveled and lived in a variety of places in the last few years. I'm back in Chandler now, until something else pulls me away.

PHILOSOPHY

Have compassion for everyone. You don't know what their life is like. Like everyone else, they're just trying to be happy.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed for the first time last summer (2011), and have done so twice since that initial time. It's awesome! All three people, and their friends whom I've met have been really great. Now I'm finally in a place to host others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first surfing experiences last summer (2011).

Música, películas y libros

Amelie, Love Actually, Crazy Stupid Love, and The Princess Bride are probably my favorite movies of all time. I really like stupid, gross comedies though, like 40 Year Old Virgin and stuff like that.

I don't have any favorite authors in particular, really. I do like Neil Gaiman quite a bit, but I've only read a couple of his books. I just pick up whatever is interesting to me at the time. It can be fiction or non-fiction.

I like indie folk music the best, but I enjoy a variety of music. I'm always down to hear something new.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I went to Palestine while in Israel, and volunteered at a circus school there in Nablus. It was an amazing experience.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I can teach you some bellydance (I did that for a few years), some massage skills (I was a practicing LMT for awhile), some Pilates and yoga, some English, how to swear in Hebrew, how to swim, how to cook/bake/eat gluten-free, how to properly care for ferrets/cats/guinea pigs, how to make a mean power point presentation, hula hoop a little bit, play an awesome card game called pounce, and maybe even some basic piano. I'm a Jill of all trades, I guess.
