About Me

Current mission:
To move through this world with less stumbling and more grace.

Basic Stats: Early 30's female currently travelling and seeing where life takes me. Feminist, animal lover, and trying to make only a small footprint on this earth.

Originally from the West Coast of the United States, I've been living in and travelling Australia for the past nine years.

Currently spending half a year loving life working and learning about the Kimberley in Kununurra WA, Australia.

I firmly believe that for travel to be meaningful for me personally, I need connections with people. It's not about the things you see, eat, and experience, it's about authentic connections with your fellow human beings. I believe that relationships and connection are vital to creating a more understanding and loving world to live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been on Couchsurfing since before I started traveling in 2010. I first used it to expand my social circle, regularly attending weekly social meetups in Seattle.

I then used Couchsurfing as a springboard for my first big trip: India. I met so many wonderful locals that made my three months there absolutely beautiful.

I've used Couchsurfing in Melbourne to meet locals and establish a friendship group that has lasted almost 10 years now.

Currently, I would love to meet locals all around Japan when my partner and I travel there in Dec 19/Jan 20.

Interests

I love anything hands-on/crafty. Spinning, knitting, crocheting, sewing, pottery, felting, refinishing furniture, gardening, you get the picture.

Love to read, mad bookworm. Love swapping books with people around the world.

Big thrifter, try to buy everything secondhand before I consider a new item.

Pretty outdoorsy, like to go out bush, chill on the lake, rafting, I'm up for just about anything!

Love to cook and eat, I bake like none other and am always up to try a new recipe or share a personal favorite.

Music, Movies, and Books

In no particular order:

Books: Anything by Christopher Moore, Mary Roach, Jennifer Ouellette, Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, David Wong and Susan Gilman. I'll happily go between a serious look at Indigenous agricultural history to science fiction to feminist lit.

Music: Live preferably! My music tastes are eccentric and unexpected, but I can't turn off the likes of Bonnie Tyler, Cher, or Donna Summer.

Movies/TV: Don't watch a whole lot of TV, but do really like the The Santa Clarita Diet, Firefly/Serenity, Battlestar Galactica, Dr Horrible, Star Wars, all the Hayao Miyazaki films

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen the Brumbies (wild horses) up in The Kimberley in Western Australia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook/bake and love to share it. Good with my hands, enjoy creative, artsy things.

Would love to learn glassblowing! Or how to shear a sheep, skateboard, rock climb, anything. I have a varied skill set and love new information.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to bake and teach new recipes. I have a lot of knowledge around traditional arts and crafts, if you have any interest in fibre arts I'm your girl!

Countries I’ve Visited
