About Me

I am a 19 year old guy that's looking to meet new people as I try and find out more about the world and myself. I'm fairly shy at first and try not to push my limits by being too outspoken but more than anything I am willing and up for almost anything. There's so much to see and do and I don't want to say no to any chances for something potentially amazing. This is also my first time traveling alone so I am more than willing to friends even if my first impression may not seem so due to the initial shyness.

I have a philosophy on life where I try to live my life to make it more enjoyable for everyone else around me. Obviously that can be difficult when there are clashing personalities but I always tried to see both sides of the story before making any decisions or judgements. And even then I try to be as mellow as possible. I want to enjoy my life and relax not cause anyone else any trouble ever even if it means it may be bothersome to me.

I've been reading some of the profiles of other people on Couchsurfing and the diversity of everyone on here is amazing. Everyone has there own story and background and everyone comes together to share them with one another and I love that! I want to be able to share some of my stories with people and listen to theirs as well because life is too short to be able to do everything so why not see what I'm missing out on.

Oh and these pictures are a few months old, I have a "man-bun" now!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because I went through my first year of college just barely. Not because of grades (I average A's and B's), but rather depression. So through the support of my family and friends I was convinced to take a gap year off of college to hopefully get an idea of what I want to do with my life. I felt pretty lost because after a few events (they're still fresh memories and would rather not go into more detail online) I had no real ambition or drive for anything. So now that's where I'm at now. I'm doing much better than earlier in the year and extremely excited to start traveling.

Interests

Well I'm on Couchsurfing to basically find out what else I'm into (by getting to know more cultures and people etc).

BUT! there are a few things that I already know I am into.
-Video games (Mostly League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone)
-Sports; specifically the "american sports" such as football, basketball, hockey, baseball etc (I consider myself decently athletic nothing amazing though)
-Animals/pets; I have always had a pet at home (currently a dog and two cats) and I love my dog more than life itself
-Nature/sightseeing; I love being able to look out and see a valley or mountains or rivers and seeing the beauty in them
-Tattoos; I absolutely love tattoos, I already have 4 of them and going to work on getting more eventually. All of them have their own meaning to me and I love seeing the artwork on other people and their reasons for them as well
-Longboarding; I guess this can technically be treated as a sport but it's more of a relaxing thing rather than competitive. I love just riding down hills and letting gravity do its thing while I get to feel the rush of wind on my face and through my hair. It's also an amazing amount of fun!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books- I'm not much of a reader but I have read and enjoyed a few books written by Kurt Vonnegut and of course the Harry Potter series

Music- I listen to almost everything. I am not the most musical person myself but I love listening to my favorite bands such as Twenty One Pilots, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Linkin Park, The Maine, Alt-J, Death Cab for Cutie, A Day to Remember, etc

Movies- I'm always up for watching a movie with friends but am not one to do it alone. Some personal favorites of mine are Fight Club, Lord of the Rings, Sherlock (I know it's on BBC and it's technically a show but each episode is about the length of a movie so I'm considering it one)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a black belt in Ryu Kyu Kempo that I earned a few years ago. That's usually my go-to fact.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to be able to learn as much as possible during this trip. The way people live, how they interact with one another, how much different it is or isn't from my life, things I can potentially be passionate about, etc. I'm an open book once I get to know someone so long as they ask questions. I always have a hard time trying to judge what to say around people but if we're close enough than I'm not shy. It's just that initial new stranger vibe that I get when I meet new people makes me shy and concealed but it's easy for me to build bonds and break down walls so long as the person is genuine and polite and so on.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It's bitter-sweet to say that I cannot share much with a host. I am still young and trying to figure myself out which is why I'm traveling in the first place. What I can share with my host is a genuine person looking to meet people and explore the world. Other than that I do not have much to offer and I apologize. I grew up in a place where not much happened and lived a standard life with an older sister and my parents like any other american family.

The little that I can share with my hosts is some of the lessons I've learned from when I was doing martial arts (specifically Ryu Kyu Kempo). So if you're interesting in learning about pressure points and the flow of energy I could share my knowledge with you.b
