About Me

Such a difficult question to answer briefly! I am a South African/Canadian university student living in Ottawa, Canada. I caught the traveling bug from a young age being taken around the world by my loving family and by the time I finished high school, I knew what I wanted to do with my new found independence! I left home and spent the better part of two years working to backpack, then repeating. I worked in Italian vineyards, as a school teacher in Kenya, a marketing manager in Tanzania and even managed to spend three months helping start a marine conservation area along the way. With the savings I managed to backpack around South and East Africa as well as the majority of Europe before heading off to Uni to study Politics and African Studies!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In my books, two of the absolutes of traveling are:

1) Where ever you go, you'll always need to sleep somewhere.
2) Traveling gives you the means to meet some of the most incredibly interesting human beings you might have never met had you stayed at home!

Couchsurfing is an amazing way to combine these two absolutes! It's both a great way to meet new souls and hear their stories as well as find yourself a place to stay once in a while. I believe that if couchsurfing works out right, both the host and the hosted should have enjoyed the experience as much as each other! I hope to be part of both sides of this experience over time.

Interests

Beyond my extreme curiosity for the world, I would say that my interest are very broad! I love sports especially those that include wheels a drive train a two pedals... Ive always got time for a good read or film. I thoroughly enjoy good conversation, especially when they are somewhat philosophical or about the state of the world and politics to name a few. I like to see myself as very adventurous and I'm always down for anything that sounds like an adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hahahaha... Because they're that easy to list!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two weeks before writing this, someone asked me the same question and I told them I had no idea, but I said something along the lines that in the last two years of my life, I had begun to learn how to embrace and celebrate the gift that is human life. I think this is the most amazing thing I have done because it has fundamentally changed the way I think and live!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and stories to exchange! Probably a bottle of wine and way to many "Thank Yous"...
