About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is making it to North Carolina! I want to see Asheville, volunteer at Shakori Hills, and work on farms in Carrboro and Boone. I'm really close already, I'm just north of Shenandoah national park.

ABOUT ME

I am many different things/people. I am the golden thread between infinity and nothingness; but always flowing, in whichever direction you choose. I want to be broad in my span and scope, and to be open to as much of this flow as is possible. I like my influence to be empathetic, compassionate, and flexible. I like to help people be themselves.

PHILOSOPHY

I've been given an opportunity...really infinity in the guise of a single life. With that, I intend to be as useful to others as I am to myself, they are interdependent. I think that everyone is one; just part of the same thing, all in constant contact. The breath you inhale was wind on the other side of the world two days ago; as such the way someone affected you came from an affectation that began long, long before either of you existed. I just strive to be aware of that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A kind word, a hug, an honest thought. Crashing on someone's couch is like an invitation from them into their life and heart, so when I do it I intend to reciprocate.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far, but I've used another service known as warmshowers that is pretty similar. And that's been interesting, I used it to get from Ithaca to where I am now in Virgina.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

I dig old-timey, funky, boppin', squinky-toned tunes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I remember a time, just sitting with one of my friends in the woods, that I said, "I don't know where I begin and end!" He said, "Now, Tristan, I know where you begin and end...me, however..." At that moment I realized that our friendship stretched back beyond the beginning of time, and that there was nothing more important than just to sit and be aware of that.
When I first learned about the concept of suffering and how people are controlled by their emotions and desires, I realized that the true nature of existence is flowing with the pulls and pushes. That too, was a powerful moment for me.
Some of the shows my band has played have been very inspiring for me. I remember one in particular, on the 21st of December last year, that brought together so many of my friends from different walks of life. They danced and sang along while we played through basically all of our material, and totally picked up on whatever energy we gave off.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about music and love teaching to people in whatever way they like!
