About Me
Hi! I’m a 23-year-old medical student from Lisbon. Since I did my Erasmus in 2022, I’ve become passionate about traveling as a way to occupy my free time and learn about the culture and history of new places. I love fast-paced trips, getting up early, and discovering everything a city has to offer. I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s going on hikes or just exploring new areas, but I'm also up for more relaxed activities, like checking out cool coffee shops or visiting a museum. In my free time, I’m often reading or learning random pop culture facts, which I’m always open to share (you'd be surprised with the quantity of useless random things I know).
This year I've done a Gyn/Ob rotation in Dublin and I'm doing a Surgery rotation in Luxembourg! I love Portugal, but at this point in my life I feel like I really want to explore other places and see what is like to live abroad.
At the moment I can't accomodate anyone because this year I'm living with my parents for most of the time :(
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a college student, money isn't always abundant in my bank account. Since I don't want to compromise my travel experiences because I don't have enough money to spend on accommodation, I thought Couchsurfing was the perfect solution. It also brings the benefit of meeting local people and get a more authentic feeling of what it's like to live in the cities I'm visiting. When I was in Erasmus in Turin we were hosts (me and my two friends) and I really had a good experience with it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now I'm really into chill Brazilian music, but I had many different music phases and I like to listen to about everything. My favourite movie is "Moulin Rouge", and the other top 3 contenders are "Burlesque" and "Chicago". I like reading a lot, and this year I've read 12 books from the same series, so I would say it's my favourite. The series is about a very bright detective of the LA PD, and the books are always so full of suspense that I feel like I'm watching a TV show. The author is Chris Carter (fun fact about him, he's a criminal psychologist that played in glam rock bands).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been in the Synchronized Swimming Portuguese National Team, and I competed at an elite level for 10 years. I stopped swimming when I entered college, but it still has a special place in my heart. It's not a very popular sport in Portugal (and in most countries), so people always get curious about it!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: As a final year medical student, I'm at my peak of general medical knowledge, because I have a big exam coming up. So, I can be of use if you need some advice or want to know a little bit about medicine in general! Besides medicine, I also love to talk about swimming and I actually know quite a lot about it, so I can fill you in on the latest important swimming news.
Learn: I love to learn about unkown fun facts of the places I visit. I like going back home and tell my friends and family the cool things I learned while I was travelling. I also like to learn some words in the native language of the city I'm in, although I almost always forget what I've learned.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Modesty aside, I think I'm a great cook! In my friend group, I usually do the cooking, and my friends always compliment my food. That being said, I can share some Portuguese recipes with my hosts and have lunch or dinner together. Additionally, I'm always open to taking a request from a host to bring a little souvenir from Portugal. We have the best sweets!
