About Me

I've got this freelance lifestyle. I left my native Germany after Highschool. In general I consider myself a happy-go lucky kind of fella who just goes along with the flow. Do not ever let me handle any planning though, as I am really not that good at it haha.
I acquired my very carefree attitude living in my second home country - the Philippines. I've spent have of my life living in "Asia's Mexico" how like to call it and, thus, I picked up a lot of the culture and lifestyle of the Filipinos.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just love meeting new people and learning something about them, as well as from them. When I travel, I'm a lot less interested in seeing the sights of a country, but rather I just want to spend time with the locals and learn things firsthand.

Interests

I enjoy learning things about languages and culture. I'm particularly fond of Asia. As I have lived in the Philippines for many years, and have taught hundreds of people from different Asian countries for more than a decade, I've accumulated quite some knowledge about places such as Korea, Japan, Taiwan etc. Naturally, I will always continue to keep learning about the things I hold dear.

Music, Movies, and Books

I pretty much listen to everything though I'm not really into club, dance, or techno beats. I love singing Karaoke, and often sing old slow rock classics.
Movie-wise I'm a bit of a nerd who likes martial arts flicks, comic book-related content and SciFi theater à la Star Trek.
Not much a reader, but I enjoy literature about language learning and teaching approaches.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Uhm, one amazingly "stupid" thing I've done was walking the streets of Fukuoka for fifteen hours in late July of 2010 without a drop of water or a single yen, but carrying approximately $1000 in Korean currency.

An amazing thing may be that I have lived and taught in Korea for about a year at one of the countries top private institutions, however this only serves as bragging rights and the amazing experience of having lived there, but it doesn't really mean much on a resume.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:

- English the "left" way!
- German through patience and by exorcising the grammar obsession you may likely harbour as a Deutschlerner!
- My pseudo-English accent acquired through listening to London-based radio as a kiddo.

Learn:

- Your language, your culture's highlights
- about every bit of "exotic" cuisine your place has to offer as I just love trying street food and unusual delicacies.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully a great time! I enjoy making people laugh and motivate them. I may not have an awesome singing voice, but I sure show a lot if enthusiasm to ensure a good time is had by all!
Perhaps some valuable insight with regards to visiting Germany, Korea, or the Philippines.
My perpetual friendship if it is to be accepted as it is given wholeheartedly!
