About Me

My name is Trudi and I'm a bit of a country bumpkin! I love nature and exploring the great outdoors; no matter how cold or rainy it may get at times!!

Having been brought up in beautiful but culturally sheltered Devon, I have spent most of my life dreaming of exploration outside this little island and meeting new friends along the way. So far I've been a fairly conventional traveler - booking flights, staying in hotels and visiting tour book destinations - but this has to stop!

2015 is the year I take my countryside boots and go walking on the wild side a little! I want to share some of my experiences with new friends, and learn what I can along the way.

I don't want to lose the polite, intuitive and sometimes shy element of my Countryside ways; just feed the curious, fun and adventurous part of me too!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really don't think you can beat the experience of locals when you are exploring somewhere for the first time. As I will be travelling largely on my own, it's much more fun when you can hang out with like minded people and - even if for just a day or two - feel like you actually live like a local too!

Whilst i'm travelling I won't really have a sofa to lend out, but hopefully for all those I meet along the way, one day I'll be able to return the favor!

Interests

Aside from my outdoor pursuits like surfing, kayaking, walking, swimming and cycling; I am very passionate about sustainability and environmental issues, and write a blog called A Lazy Girl Goes Green. This is reflected in the way I like to live and travel, and my choice to eat vegan (location permitting!)

I'm an aspiring yogi and am constantly seeking to quiet my mind though meditation (though I'm an awful day dreamer and often find my mind wandering...)

Music, Movies, and Books

Though I'll always be a 90's grunger at heart, I am fairly eclectic with my music tastes. I still revert back to smashing pumpkins and alice in chains when I need a lift though :P

Being a culture and history nerd I mostly love reading about history, theology and cultures and customs; though you may well catch me on the beach reading cheesy chick lit!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Without sounding cliche, I think most of the things in life are amazing! I don't believe that you should only value things that are seemingly out of the ordinary to everyday life, as the small encounters and actions in life are just as special. Some of the friendships I've made and little local excursions I've enjoyed have been just as amazing as the one off experiences in far flung countries.

I try to see every life experience as part of my unique journey. So whether you have time to show me around where you live, or simply fancy watching movies over glass of wine, I'll be grateful for the time and experience we share together :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can't claim to have any special talents or skills but I do love cooking for people if you fancy braving vegan cuisine!! I also (weirdly) love cleaning, painting and gardening and am willing to lend my two hands too anything that needs a little hard grafting :)
