Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a member of CouchSurfing since 2006, but haven't been active at all recently. Now my girlfriend (Trudy) and I are ready to jump right back into hosting and surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For those that are wondering why my profile is from 2006 and I don't have that many friends/surfs/hosting experiences, well I created it back then and then went travelling and never used it (to much camping and hostels!).

Interests

We love exploring and travelling, having the odd drink (Tom loves the European beer and Trudy loves Wine and G&T's).

Eating delicious food is also a must (you have to try a Turkse Pizza from the Rotterdam Markets!).

Music, Movies, and Books

Tom: I love fantasy books (I'm a dork. I grew up with Harry Potter, come on!). Thrillers and mystery books are good too. New favourites would be Brandon Sanderson, an old favourite is Dick Francis. Travel books are good too!

Movies I love include Inglorious Basterds, LOTR, mindless action flicks, decent sci-fi's. I secretly love the odd rom-com as well ;)

Trudy: I love travel books like Shantaram. Janette Turner Hospital is a favourite author and as well as Jonathan Safran Foer (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close).

I enjoy light hearted comedies from Love Actually to Amelie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailing through the Dalmatian Islands in Croatia and picnics under the Eiffel Tower, stuffing ourselves in Sicily and ice skating on the canals in The Netherlands.

Teach, Learn, Share

Tom: I can teach you to juggle 3 balls. I can teach you to swear in Dutch. I can teach you a joke that goes like this:

"3 men were in a boat. They all felt Happy. So Happy jumped out".

I really want to learn new jokes.

Trudy: I can teach you how to do a cartwheel. I can show you a nice pumpkin soup recipe.

I love to learn life stories and wish I had never taught Tom that joke.
