About Me

My name is Dominic.
I don’t have much to offer other than a couch, but if you need a place to stay during the time your around, I’d be happy to offer it to you.

I’m new to couch surfing. I’ve hosted once, some lively professional travelers from Russia, and through them connected with surfers in London that I will stay with in a few weeks. I’m flying to Amsterdam and booked an airbnb with a woman out of Switzerland I’ve known less than 30 minutes. I want to go an adventures and bring adventures to where I go. Hopefully we can share stories and help one another.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on couch surfing because I’m ready to join the community of world travelers. I want to see the world and gain perspective that i can’t by simply staying in. To be honest I don’t want to sit on my phone and stand out only for being on my camera instead of soaking the culture in through my own lens. I want to be as little of a tourist as possible.
The people are more than the pictures to me and I think couch surfing is the way to do it. I don’t want to sit on a computer in some hotel and force myself outside. I don’t want to bunk on some hostel and walk around scared about my laptop being in a locker or not. I want to be free and enjoy the life. I met someone from Spain and she sold me on re routing my Eurotrip to visit.

**Update May 2016

I’ve been in Berlin for a few days and love this city! I admire what I’ve seen in Berlin so far because of the history and the diversity. I’m from an area (Minneapolis) that is pretty progressive, but not so much that I can meet a government worker with pink hair, or lawyers with full sleeve tattoos. I met someone who is half german and half Brazilian on the train and we talked about Zika and the collapsing political climate in his city. (I just graduated with a B.A in Political Science from University of New York this month)
I am staying in Kreuzberg and talked with locals about the punk culture. Avoided playing tourist at Görlitzer park, but met someone on the street and aided a protest of the gentrification happening in the area. I am here and taking chances.
Mind you I’m staying with someone tonight whom I met in New York and known for less than an hour, but was willing to just trust. I even cancelled my plans for Copenhagen to stay in Berlin.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music wise: I enjoy a wide range of things. I like anywhere from banjo playing, foot stomping folk music, to 808 bumping hip hop. Rock and roll, french pop, j-pop, bachata, even some country!
For the most part it’s hip hop, with some folk, jazz, r&b, soul, and metal influences

Movies: Amelie is a beautiful movie. I like drama, some comedy. Foreign films are great. After all, I’m used to reading subtitles because I love Anime.

Books: Currently reading I am Malala, The unbearable lightness of being, Institutional powers and constraints of constitutional law, and The age of reason.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My name is Dominic. I don’t have much to offer other than a couch, but if you need a place to stay during the time your around, I’d be happy to offer it to you. I have 3 very interesting roommates, two from Ghana and one from New York City. They are lively people and they don’t hold back. So don’t expect quiet when you walk in to the house. Instead you’ll get a lively bunch. I live on the second floor of a house near the University of Buffalo. It’s a 15 minute train ride to downtown/Allentown (my favorite area). If you have any questions, i’ll do my best to answer them. Hopefully I’ll have a tip or two regarding experiencing Buffalo.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Hungary, Jamaica, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom
