Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a world traveler and would like to meet local people where I am traveling to. It's not the same meeting people at hostels and such as they are travelers as well. I would like to meet local people and experience some of the local things that you would never know of from reading things online.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couch surfing experience on this website but I have couch surfed before with friends that I have made around the world. Most of my experiences are in Canada. I really liked it staying with friends in their city, they get a chance to be a tourist in their own city while I am visisting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been lucky enough in my life to go and see many different counties and places. One of the most amazing things that I have seen is climbing to the top of Mt. Rinjani on Lombok Island Indonesia. At the top of this mountain is an active volcano surrounded by a lake, the kicker is that this volcano actually sits inside the crater of a larger volcanoe (Mt. Rinjani). We made it to the summit at sunrise and it was just a beautful sight to behold.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a mining engineer I feel that it is important I share with people my knowledge of mining and how it impacts people's lives. Through mining we are able to obtain the raw materials required to have our standard of living. People will use cars, airplanes, roads, cellphones, tvs, laptops, etc. All of the metals and minerals required to make these products come from mining. I think that it is important people understand where these raw materials come from.
I have an open mind to learning and always welcome anybody willing to impart knowledge onto me. I think the best learning comes from discussion and dialogue with people.
