About Me

We don't inherit the earth from our grandparents, we borrow it from our children. (indian saying)

Currently trying to get a PhD started, while travelling to all different places and being in the nature as often as possible. In Switzerland I love to be in the mountains all seasons, either for hiking, skiing or simply relaxing somewhere close to nature. Abroad, my travels brought me to Canada, the US, China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Madagascar and many european countries. Always searching more for nature than cities, people than party, indepence than big-scale tourism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To travel means to get to know a country or region and its people. And how can you better do that than staying with locals who know best about their home?

I've travelled Canada, the US, France and Eastern Europe with Couchsurfing and hosted several times in Bern, where I live currently. This has mostly been great experiences with nice people and the chance to get insights into other cultures I wouldn't have had without Couchsurfing. And if I'm at home and receive guests it's like holidays at home!

A Wheel of Time

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In August 2012 I was in China, where I climbed a mountain with more than 5000m. This was an amazing experience to stand on the top, especially also because this altitude and the thin air showed me something completey new.

And you all know these little moments, not something way special, but still the things you're looking for in life - like beeing the first on the ski trail on a sunny morning, though you had to stand up way too early, still tired, but nothing beats the feeling of skiing down there. There are plenty of them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm one of the last 60'000 persons who are speaking the fourth national language of Switzerland, Rhaeto-Romansh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romansh_language). So I can tell about a very special part of Switzerland.
I'm ready to learn about other cultures and persons what they can teach me. I think that the exchange between the surfers is much more important than the comfortability of the couch! ;-)
I can also cook and could cook for you some specialities from Switzerland and my home canton.
