About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making sure I can say I lived well!

ABOUT ME

Hey! I'm Tres (like uno, dos, ...) I'm happy getting up before sunrise to go for a peaceful hike or to go skiing, or to stay out all night drinking with friends new and old. I'm a nerd who loves my introvert time but I also love being outside and meeting people. I have an unfortunate tendency to use every pun that occurs to me in conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

The world would be a better place if people were more willing to make fools of themselves. -- Heather

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surf, host occasionally, and enjoy going to CS events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The coolest CS experience I had was in Malaysia with my girlfriend Cassie. We spent my birthday cycling around the backwoods, eating on the floor of an Indian temple, singing songs with people representing 9 countries at a Chinese family's house while a thunderstorm raged outside, and watching an Indian firewalking ceremony in disbelief.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like dark humor, especially when it's used to reveal a difficult truth that's hard to express in a sincere way. I'm also a sucker for well-executed slapstick.

TV: South Park, Six Feet Under, Star Trek
Movies: American Beauty, Amelie, Super Troopers
Books: Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates, Freedom at Midnight, Shantaram

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A beautiful and generous family at the top of a mountain in northern Peru wove a rich, fascinating, and disturbing story about their surroundings in a house without electricity or plumbing. I taught them English, they taught me about myself and helped me with my Spanish, and it was beautiful.

Teach, Learn, Share

Woods Quarry is a great, lesser-known short hike in Boulder.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States
