About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Breathe in love, breathe in light, breathe in peace, kindness, passion, compassion, strength, courage and joy.

ABOUT ME

The best way to sum up who I am: a small town gal with big dreams. "Your dreams come true when you act to turn them into realities." ~Anonymous

Yoga has changed my life. In fact, I am quitting the corporate world and going to India this November for yoga teacher training; I want to aid others to reach the point of self-realization. It's an amazing experience!

I am a compassionate and passionate person who tries to live life to the fullest and can't wait to get back on the road again!

PHILOSOPHY

"We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give." ~Sir Winston Churchill~

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During my Eurotrip, I surfed with many wonderful hosts, and attended some CS meetings along the way. Now that I am home, I look forward to reciprocating!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None to speak of yet - I have no doubt that future experiences will be amazing!

....and it turns out I was right!!! CouchSurfing is amazing. My first CS gathering was in Dublin for St. Patrick´s Festival and I had the time of my life. I met so many wonderful people. There were people from all over the world in Dublin and I´ve already been lucky enough to meet up with some of them throughout my travels. It is so great to surf with people that know their city and suggest or take you places that you wouldn´t have gone otherwise. I have developed some great friendships and I am so excited to host once I return back to Canada....I must prove to some that we do have hot weather and lovely beaches (not as nice as Portugal though ;) )!

....I am happy to report that my first hosting experience was just as wonderful as my surfing experiences! Eating, drinking, and dancing on tables...amen!

Interests

LOVE the outdoors - the ocean is my favourite smell :) I like to be active: yoga, cycling, swimming, hiking, fishing, running, anything outside!

I also love animals; I am a volunteer at the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), where I walk dogs and contribute my time towards organizing fundraisers. I sit on the SPCA Community Council as the Fundraising Chairperson as well.

Other than that, I have a passion for yoga, people, culture, history, and love food :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite books include: (auto)biographies of musical icons. One can truly understand the inspiration of musicians and lyricists through understanding their life experiences.

Favourite music include: anything! From blues to grunge to country to (thanks to Holland & my host) house music! All-time favourite artist: Janis Joplin.

Movies: Almost Famous is my favourite - hands down. But I love many movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A roadtrip to California was amazing. San Francisco is a beautiful city and walking across the the Golden Gate Bridge is unforgettable. Along the way, we stopped in Portland, Oregon and partied with some locals at an Irish pub during a college play-off basketball game - Go Portland! That roadtrip is 10 days I will never forget.

I am looking extremely forward to what my European adventure will bring :)

Things I will remember from my European adventure:
-St. Patrick´s festival and all of my newfound friends
-"Remember girls, nuts are crunchy, beware of the men"
-Accidently drinking too much sangria and port wine with Suze in Porto
-Nuno - an amazing host who showed me the best of Lisboa and it´s surrounding area
-Lagos sunshine
-Dancing on tables in Nice, France
-Hiking around the countryside of Vienna
-24-hour train to Lviv: I survived!
-Spending Easter with an AMAZING family in Ukraine
-The entire country of Ukraine (absolutely beautiful)
-Meeting up with Irina in Prague! and in Mannheim!
-Watching both Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code in German - and understanding what was going on!
-Dancing away at the City Moves Dance Festival in Den Bosch, Netherlands with Anouk and her friends
-An epic bike ride through Berlin
-Hitch-hiking with Niall in Luxembourg
-Dancing traditional dance in Toulouse with Muriel and her friends
-Snorkeling in Lagos with Emma
