About Me

CURRENT MISSION

make the BEST FILM EVER.

ABOUT ME

I am a filmmaker freshly out of film school. The past few years of my life have been consumed by work. I've been meaning to see America (not just the coastal cities) for a while, and this summer, I want to see the Midwest and some National Parks. Bring on the random roadside attractions!

PHILOSOPHY

People try their best, but things get distorted along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed when I did a cycling trip through Europe. It was fantastic. I met so many new friends along the way and learned so much more about the city than if I had hosteled it so I'm excited to do it again during this trip!

Interests

I like to make films. That's actually what I'm in school for, so I would say that it's my main interest.

I also like barbecue, cold beer, fireworks, skateboards, vintage stores, Woody Allen, jeans, bike riding (though I won't have one), trying not to fall off my skateboard, reading, water, fruits, Jonathan Richman, and walks outside on a warm evening.

I hate mosquitos.

Music, Movies, and Books

Roland Barthes is my number one man. But David Foster Wallace, Frank O'Hara, Kurt Vonnegut, Murakami, Theodor Adorno, and Chuck Klosterman follow close behind. Very close.

Films/TV: La Jetee, Wet Hot American Summer, Last Year At Marienbad, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Twin Peaks, Enter the Void, Blade Runner, In The Mood For Love, The Last Laugh, Fando Y Lis, After Life, Waking Life, so so much more.

Music: Silver Jews, Daniel Johnston, The Modern Lovers, Beat Happening, All Girl Summer Fun Band, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Pavement, Sonny & the Sunsets, Gigi, Jens Lekman, Atlas Sound, Blur, Sam Cooke, Mazzy Star, The Cars, Kurt Vile, Nirvana, Joanna Newsom, and Sonic Youth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. In Bordeaux, I went to a film playing at a church that had been converted into a theater. Beautiful, life-changing moment.

2. To be determined on this trip, maybe...?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make balloon animals, cook (used to cook for my 56 person co-op), skateboard okay, make movies, and... wow, I'm feeling pretty useless in terms of knowledge here. I'm sure I'm forgetting something..
