About Me
PLEASE READ THIS:
I will NOT accept people sending generic requests. Read the full profile before asking to stay here and would be nice to hear why you like to stay with me. Try to make an effort, I get several requests a week and I can only host one or two. Don't do last minute requests, I like to prepare the room and the house when people come. Finally, this is a smoke and smartphone free house. Booked for june.
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Chile, in a house surrounded by shit, as Nicanor Parra would say. I used to like Dubstep and ride my bike for hours without end or read till dawn. I don't have a tv, and my belongings fit in a 10m^2 room. I lived in Paris, Chicago, Santiago, and currently in Enschede for almost three years. I speak fluent chilean, which is understood with a bit of difficulty by spanish speaking people, english and french with a funny accent, and now I'm trying to learn german reading Heidegger and dutch with a half german half dutch teacher. I will never have enough books, neither read enough. I think, following Badiou, that "...the only thing that matters is that thought indeed be the liveliest, most concrete thing in the world." No joke. Seriously.
---- update ---
I wrote that text more than four years ago, the part about enschede and my small room, not the smoke and cellphone free house. Things have changed a lot. I moved out of holland, traveled southamerica then moved to graz (which is perhaps the most fascist place I've ever been) and since a year I live back in chile working from home in a postdoc and in my woodworking shop. You can check my woodworking here: https://www.instagram.com/tsuresuregusa/
Valparaiso is by far the coolest city in Chile, and one of my favourite places to live in the world. There is music, food, parties, breweries and art. There is posh restaurants with tourists and real places where people talk about Baudelaire as one talks about a friend. Poetry is lived by young rappers and old booksellers. If I'm in the mood, I can give you a small tour and talk about the architecture, the history, politics and social dynamics that happen here. It would be better for both of us if you are not uncomfortable talking about politics, torture, drugs or how to overcome capitalism.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies? Chaplin before Hitchcock; Black and white French from the 60s before Bergman; Evangelion and Death Note. Books? For a year reading Zizek almost daily; before that, ten years of poetry and literature: Bolaño, Miller, among hundred of others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Dawn in santiago's mountains.
Understanding something that just a moment ago seemed impossible to understand.
Kissing for the first time a person whom I love.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm trying to make of the house a small hand tools workshop, mostly woodworking and some metalwork. I can share that with you.
