About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Met a couch surfer on a bus to lisboa, and said...."I want to meet more people like you"...so here I am

ABOUT ME

My best friends say I am very fun loving, easy going, but extremely spontaneous. (I booked this trip to live in Spain on May 18 and was here May 26). They will say I am obsessive compulsive with everything I pursue, especially fitness...I am crazy about working out and eating healthy. They will say I am intelligent but very flighty and goofy at times and that I am a very physical, passionate person who isn't afraid to "tell you or show you who I am". I love my dog, Sunny and wish I could bring him on trips...In 2008, I learned the hard way that you may not have tomorrow to do the things you want to do, so I live each day treating everyone with respect and learning as much, seeing as much, experiencing as much, as I possibly can because I may not have tomorrow to say I am sorry or to see what I havent yet seen, or influence the lives of those who I never had a chance to meet.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short...we all suffer from destination disease...we are worried about what we are going to do next all day long, and never enjoy the ride....I'm going to enjoy the ride from here on out...when I die, I will have no regrets. I am enjoying the ride. THE BEST EDUCATION A PERSON CAN EVER HAVE IS TRAVELING, MEETING AND INTERACTING WITH PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.....your country of birth is simply a small corner of the large box of the world...step out and learn....enjoy the ride.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new....love the group activities and meetings - went to my first june 2012 - wahoo...another one Friday. I want to meet people and learn from them. People just like Alex (CS I met on the bus to Lisboa). If I can offer a couch, great.....if I can "use a couch" for a night, great - as long as I get to meet people, learn from them, and hopefully give back possitive interchanges of hospitality and culture, then my mission for joining CS has been accomplished.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

none yet, but liking the couch surfers I've met on this trip. "Meets" are super!!!!!

Interests

SCUBA dive every chance I get. I love to run 25 1/2 marathons 2 full)and spend my time biking, running, walking and working out...I am into insanity and P90 x right now. I also love the Spanish culture and learning the language. Travel Travel Travel, and if I can dive and travel - wahoo! I am a Human Resources professional & love my work - it is interesting, but lost my husband (died april 2010) and I am determined to enjoy the rest of my life and experience the world outside of the US.

Music, Movies, and Books

Amores Perros...Against All Odds....Pulp Fiction
Christian Rock, Latin Music....any book by Harlan Coban

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The world of diving all over the Carribean is probably the most interesting of my travels: Cozumel, Dominican, Saba, statia, st. Maarten, The Roatan, and Florida keys. I am traveling Western Europe now, then on to Ecuador in August perhaps....home for July then perhaps Medellin Colombia in September if I don't decide to aupair before then - checking into that. I love any place I can learn new culture and see new things....recently I traveled to granada, cordoba, ronda, barcelona, and lisbon....loved it...living in Sevillia now. Volunteering in The Gambia for 3 weeks was quite an amazing life changing experience as well...any experience with cultures and humanity is an education and time well invested.

Teach, Learn, Share

My husband was my sole mate - only together 5 years when he died...I think the most important thing I have to share is my renewed outlook on life and the importance of experiences and relationships. I've worked 25 years in HR and have done the 9 to 5....I think my knowledge best shared is my renewed outlook on what is important...to me it is family, experiences, and relationships...family to me are people not only related but those with whom an ever lasting bond of friendships and experieinces youve weaved.
