About Me

CURRENT MISSION

find out how to travel and support myself as I travel

ABOUT ME

I'm very passionate about traveling and learning about real life through travel - real history, real people, real culture, real issues. I studied abroad in Spain and lived with a family while teaching English to students. I've been to Spain, France, Basque country, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, England, Ireland, Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, and now I'm looking to expand my travels. I love adventure travel and I've also been finding ways in the Pacific Northwest in the US to surf, skydive, paraglide, bike, skate, whatever I can find.
I've been saving money and paying off bills for (too long) and now it's time for my next trip. It's sometimes a toss up between career and travel, so I'm trying to find a way to enrich my life with experiences while also being able to support myself and perhaps find things that support my career. My career, business models that use the web, so that I can be anywhere and do anything when I want and where I want. I'd love some inspiration from people who are ex-career junkies and real world/travel junkies, please share your stories.

PHILOSOPHY

I think about why I live my life all the time. I am a truth seeker and always even question our existence. All I can speak to with real knowledge is that as a conscious being all we know is the physical life we have in front of us. To paraphrase a quote I once heard '... it's not the number of breaths we take in life, but the number of moments that take our breath away'. Too many people live out of fear, insecurity, doubts. I think you need to scare the shit out of yourself from time to time to know that you are really alive. The path to your dreams begins with taking the first step.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to participating just on the site, and I'm trying to fill out my profile, learn about the project, and get in touch with members. I read about some of the group gatherings to help improve the site or business and I would be interested in helping out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't surfed yet but as I'm nearing toward my adventure I'll be looking. I also have a house in Seattle and I'd love to open it up to fellow adventurers. I met some couch surfers recently in Vegas, and a few of my friends have tried it as well, I've heard nothing but great feedback and this community is amazing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Matrix, movies that make you think or comedies. Music - all kinds - anything that makes the soul dance. Books - The Alchemist, Excuse me Your Life is Waiting. I read so many books about business and internet, etc, but there are few books that make you want to change your life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped try to save a whale that beached itself in the ocean, 100+ people were helping.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've started a couple of web businesses and I work at an Internet startup, so I have experience with general web and setting up a business - project management, design, UI, program management, general management, corp finance, legal docs, etc. I've taught English and Spanish, played college basketball, and considered teaching windsurfing (though I'm a newbie).
I'd like to learn how to run a successful import/export business, how to live/work anywhere with my laptop, how to surf better, other languages - I'd love to learn several languages and several cultures, new foods, new ideas. This is a great idea to learn from each other!
