About Me
*** PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE ATTENDING SHEFFIELD DOCFEST***
I am sorry but I have had lots of CS requests in advance of DocFest and I am afraid that my place will be unavailable during the DocFest period.
CURRENT MISSION
On a lifelong path of self discovery... collecting fun stories along the way!
ABOUT ME
Raised between England and Asia.
Recently finished my PhD studies in Biomedical Engineering, and bade farewell to London after 9 long years of study. I have just moved to Sheffield, UK to start a postdoc at the University of Sheffield. It's a new adventure, and am looking forward to forging some new experiences and friendships!
PHILOSOPHY
Work hard, play hard. Get involved if you want to make a difference
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I lived in London for 9 years, and have worked as a hotel receptionist and as a university dorm advisor, whilst studying. Whilst I don't claim to know everything about London, I am more happy to share my experiences and tips of my time there! There are plenty of free things to do and see depending on the season or day of the week!
Outside of London, I've visited many places in UK, and am now living in Sheffield near the Peak District national park. It's really beautiful with its own unique heritage, and I'm hoping to explore more of the area with visiting CSers!
I love travelling, and try to go abroad as much as I can! I love experiencing new cultures and cuisines, and taking in as much history and heritage as I can! My friends are of a wide range of nationalities and interests, and I wouldn't have it any other way :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first CS experience was with Karen and Val in San Diego, May 2011. It was amazing and I got to meet their friends and they took to me to a CS gathering on Ocean Beach... they were amazing, chilled, fun, etc etc... and it was a blast!
Since then, I have met a few CSers on my travels, shown around some CSers in London, and am excited to welcome CSers to UK and to Sheffield/the Peak District!
Interests
I play the violin and sang in an all male a cappella group in my university which I helped to found (they're called the Techtonics and are an awesome group of singers and guys). Additionally, I cycle, inline skate, play association croquet and do some wushu.
I also like knitting, cooking and trying out new recipes, and may subject visiting CSers to my attempts at perfecting my sourdough bread baking skills!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm big on a cappella, classical music, musical comedy (Tom Lehrer, Flight of the Conchords) and general pop. Books - I haven't been reading for a bit but in my youth I've read plenty of classics so hopefully there is some good conversation to be had (at least I can share some insights from my legendary English teacher at school).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Completing the 'Double Start' marathon in Berlin 2009 whilst on my university orchestra tour. Skating 42km at 4pm on Saturday, performing a concert that evening, then running 42km at 9am the next morning followed by a concert that afternoon. Don't make me do it again though!
Teach, Learn, Share
Ready, steady, cook. I love trying out new recipes and passing things on! My friends think I'm decent in the kitchen.
Additionally I can reveal plenty about the world of amateur croquet (there is no professional croquet going on), and the joys of travelling round the UK staying in Bed and Breakfasts. And plenty willing to learn from others too!
