About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet as many different people as possible, from as many different places as possible. Spread compassion and love. CS restores my faith in humanity.
UPDATE: In light of recent political events in the UK, I would like to say that all travellers, whatever their nationality or religion, are more welcome than ever in my country. Never has it been more important to be kind to strangers and spread the message of tolerance and compassion that CS is built on. We live in a time where the politics of hate is becoming the status quo, where anger and violence are normalised, and where divisions are seen in every strata of society.
I am not this Britain.
I am fighting for a better country in which hope triumphs over hate and we do not respond to the killing of a politician by voting against everything she stood for. In Welsh, we have a word for this - hiraeth. It means yearning for a home that you can't return to; that may never have existed. I will fight to build this home. But, in the meantime, travellers of the world - you are welcome. Let's build bridges of our own.
ABOUT ME
Very easy-going, I'm happiest when sat in a cafe with coffee, the crossword and plenty of people to watch, although I'm also quite partial to the odd night of dancing to gypsy swing music in a grimy bar drinking gin and tonic out of plastic cups. I also love anything that involves reading, live music, bunting and gender bending.
Basically if you like compassion, bikes and books and dislike shopping, the Tories and arrogance we'll probably get along.
PHILOSOPHY
We are far more united, and have far more in common, than the things that divide us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I'm travelling, I surf to meet new friends and enrich my experience; when I'm at home I host to live vicariously through travellers!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I lived in Bristol, I hosted people from Baltimore, NZ, Germany and the UK, sometimes for a few weeks at a time - all great experiences. I've also got quite a few friends scattered around the UK who are part of CS.
Then, I took a turn at being the Surfer on my trip to America a few years ago and had an absolutely fantastic time with brilliant people.
And now I live in Wales and host whenever I can!
