About Me

Hi, I'm Tuli! I'm originally from Finland, but I've lived in the States, and around Europe. I'm currently studying at the University of Cape Town, where my focus in on Sociology and Anthropology. I'm a firm believer in human, animal, as well as environmental rights and the wellbeing of everyone around me. My short term future plans include traveling as much as time allows and meeting people with open minds and fascinating interests.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a person with undiagnosed but severe wonderlust, I fund that traveling without truly connecting with the local culture and the people of each country is fruitless. I love to learn, and what better way to do so than through making it a two-way interraction in a foreign country!

Music, Movies, and Books

I definitely pick the good book before the movie, and am not a large fan of many films. I absolutely adore all of Kieślowski films and have a special place in my heart for anything just a bit weird, but recently I've also found a fascination in mythology and folklore. Though I'm currently buried under a mountain of school books, there'd never too little time for a good book.

My music taste varies quite a bit, ranging from classical to alternative to rock, anything goes! Music from different cultures is especially fascinating, and something worth bonding over. Right now I have some Kalif Seita, Cesaria Evora, Orchestra Baobab, and Buika on my playlists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Although I've loved my times in activism and human rights, my best experiences have come from art. I love to paint, play music and sing, perform, write, and creativity is something I find immense value in, in my life. Life is boring without a hint of art in it, and so I try to add a pinch of something creative to everything I do.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that the vital component in couchsufing that makes it work is the fact that the people you meet often teach you things you never expected to learn. I'm passionate to share my own experiences, knowledge, creativity, and hope that the people I meet will be open to the same. I believe that CS experiences are best when unexpected and unplanned!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Interesting stories, ideologies, jokes, culture, food, knowledge, hopes, skills, these are all things that I look to exchange with other surfers. Perhaps we can paint or cook together, share a beer and wonder about the world, or simply laugh at our travel mishaps. I've got quite a few exciting stories from my travels and the people I've met, but I'm also a lover of quiet coversations over a nice board game or a vegan meal.
