Hello! My name is Alexander. I come from a small but ancient town in the north of Belarus. After graduating from college, I worked in forestry for a long time in various parts of Belarus. I lived an ordinary, calm and measured life. However, after 25 years, I decided to change my life dramatically. I quit my job to start traveling the world. These were mostly budget trips by hitchhiking with an overnight stay in a tent or couchsurfing. From 2015 to 2019, I managed to visit about 50 countries. After 2019, due to the pandemic, events in my native Belarus and then in Ukraine, I had to forget about traveling a little. During this time, I managed to live and work as a baker and picker in a warehouse in Poland, as a poultry farm worker in the Netherlands, as a harvester in the UK, Finland, Poland. Circumstances developed that I have now returned to my homeland. The desire to travel, as well as to meet and communicate with different people, has not disappeared. Therefore, I will be very glad to meet interesting, versatile people.

P.S. I apologize for my English. It is not very good, I did not study it at school. When traveling, I try to communicate, but my level is barely up to A1. Therefore, I often use Google Translate.

Здравствуйте! Меня зовут Александр. Я родом из небольшого, но старинного городка на севере Беларуси. После окончания колледжа долгое время работал в лесном хозяйстве в разных уголках Беларуси. Жил обычной, спокойной и размеренной жизнью. Однако после 25 лет решил кардинально изменить свою жизнь. Я уволился с работы, чтобы начать путешествовать по миру. В основном это были бюджетные поездки автостопом с ночевкой в палатке или по каучсерфингу. С 2015 по 2019 год успел посетить около 50 стран. После 2019 года из-за пандемии и дальнейших событий мне пришлось немного забыть о путешествиях. За это время успел пожить и поработать пекарем, комплектовщиком заказов на складах в Польше, рабочим на птицефабрике в Нидерландах, сборщиком урожая в Великобритании, Финляндии, Польше. Так сложились обстоятельства, что сейчас я вернулся на Родину. Желание путешествовать, а также знакомиться и общаться с разными людьми никуда не делось. Поэтому буду очень рад знакомству с интересными, разносторонними людьми.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really love communicating with interesting and versatile people who have something to tell. I also like to study the culture and life of people from different countries and, of course, share my knowledge and interesting stories. I can tell a lot about the culture and interesting places in Belarus.

Нравится узнавать что-то новое о различных уголках нашей планеты не только из новостей и интернета,а непосредственно из уст людей. Также всегда интересно узнать что-нибудь новое для себя или, быть может, поделиться с кем-то своим жизненным опытом, быть скажем так полезным для общества.

Interests

In general, I am quite an adventurous person. I like free travel, most often hitchhiking. I am also interested in tourism. I go on mountain and bicycle trips. I like to study the culture, economy and the current state of affairs in different countries of the world. Sometimes, like many people, I like to spend time quietly at home with a cup of coffee and watching an interesting film.

В целом , нравится активно проводить время. По возможности путешествовать, ходить в походы. Очень люблю горы, велосипед и пробежки. Также,как и многим, иногда хочется в тихой и спокойной обстановке выпить чашку вкусного кофе, посмотреть что-нибудь интересное. В последнее время стал увлекаться изучением информации о различных странах, всех плюсах и минусах,и что там поменялось за десятилетия. Вообще,могу поддержать разные темы для разговоров, ну кроме политики и религии. В этом плане держу нейтралитет.

Music, Movies, and Books

In general, I am a music lover and can listen to absolutely different music from hard rock to pop music. 😊 It is also very interesting to study music in general and musical preferences in different countries of the world. My playlist contains a lot of music from Poland in the style of disco polo, Turkish, Finnish rock. I am also interested in Celtic music. I can also watch absolutely different films, depending on my mood. I really like watching documentaries about the formation of different countries of the world, their economies and development.

I read mostly scientific literature. In fiction, I prefer Belarusian writers, such as Vasil Bykov, Svetlana Alexievich

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After 10 years of infinite study and work without holidays at one time decided to give up everything and go on a hitchhiking trip. over the past one yers already visited more than 20 countries.
