About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Truding along on the Road to Happy Destiny

ABOUT ME

I am a 27 year old Peace Corps Volunteer living in Port Vila, Vanuatu. I always wanted to work in International Health so I decided to sign up for the 2 year program in 2009. At first, I lived in a remote village on the island of Ambae but moved into the city when a job opened up at the Shefa Provincial Health Office. I am now an "Adviser to the Manager" which means I do anything from budgeting and financial management to dressing up like a superhero to distribute condoms to night clubs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to the Coach Surfing Experience but I think my goal here is to meet some interesting people, share my knowledge of Vanuatu with others, and pass on some good will to my fellow man.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in a remote village on the island of Ambae for an entire year. There was no electricity, no running water, no telephones, no cars and no internet. I lived with a family that I now call Mom and Dad and I learned all that I could about the community, about the culture and about myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some words in Bislama. I can guide you to the best spots in Vanuatu. I can teach you about the culture, the customs and the people. I can tell you all about the health problems that are facing this country and why they won't change anytime soon. I can also tell you some wonderful stories about how my fellow PCVs help out and give back to these wonderful and gracious people.

Hopefully, I can learn something too in this experience.
