About Me

Well, I'm trying to get out there and be the best version of myself that I can. Recently, I've decided that I can't do that in any way other than being in full control of my work hours. So I'm currently working on my own as a writer/photographer. A digital nomad, if you will. I'll be spending the next five months traveling in the States and abroad and maybe WOOFing until I join the Peace Corps in January. I need to get involved with people more; I tend to introvert now and again. But it also means I don't need much entertainment as a Couchsurfer! But you wouldn't know it by talking to me! Also I'm tall. Really tall. So if you need things reached from the top shelf...Hit me up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well I've hosted plenty of friends, some of whom use this site. I'd like to surf a couch or two, as I've heard nothing but good about this service.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots of traveling experience but I've always been the guy that absolutely had to have a hotel room. I'm just starting to trust enough to WOOF and Couchsurf. I'm hoping to let go of the reins of travel control just a bit, and enrich myself and others at the same time.

Interests

Well, tons. Photography, meditation, cooking and cuisine, art, science, nature, books, hiking, working out...A low-key sorta guy who rarely does the bar scene but isn't out place there. With good company, of course!

Also, I'm trying to convert to being a vegetarian, if that matters. I'm not militant about it, but I'll probably be eating lots of veggies. If I pass on your barbecue, I hope that's okay. Unless I don't. Because meat is delicious. T.T

Music, Movies, and Books

I have them but they change too often to make a list. Fortunately my Kindle goes everywhere I do!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've spent two years living and working at a Buddhist Monastery in New Zealand. I was the caretaker, and learned meditation there. The Theravadin tradition is where the Vipassana style gets most of its techniques, so if you're a fan, I love to meditate and talk practice for hours!

Joining the Peace Corps next year -- but I guess that's to BE done, not having done it yet. I'll be going to Ethiopia to serve for two years or maybe more.

My rental unit burned down after my electric bike exploded last year. I survived but had to rebuild from just the clothes on my back. Now I want to burn it all again and hit the road.

I've lived abroad for nearly six years in China, Taiwan, and New Zealand.

I got punched in the throat by a kung-fu master in China.

I've had a pretty awesome life and I'm only 34. So much yet to do..
