ABOUT ME

I like my music dark, my coffee sweet, and my dog very small.

I'm a bit more than obsessed with "arts and crafts". I knit almost constantly, and when that's not keeping my hands busy, I'm sewing some hideous seventies style quilt. I keep a little garden as well as I can in a city not known for sunshine and the little kick I get out of chopping and cooking food is the only thing keeping me from a steady diet of macadamia nuts and seltzer.

I don't drink anymore but still enjoy the local bar scene and am more than happy to show you around our town's craft beer scene or even where to get the best mocktails.

I play the accordion and have an out of tune piano and several guitars around if you feel like trying your hand at a musical night.

I have a secret fantasy of discovering I was adopted and my real parents are Tom Waits and Dolly Parton.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting people has gotten me to see parts of my city I had never even considered, like whale watching or finally trying an infamous lobster roll while letting me meet all kinds of amazing folks.

My absolute favorite part is being introduced to music from all over the world. Show me your favorite local band's bandcamp and I'm forever in your debt.

兴趣

Loves: knitting on doublepoints, hoarding plants, tiny dogs, the color turquoise, goats, coconut flavored anything, coffee, old book smell, gardens, cheese, spaghetti westerns, crossing things off my lists, making lists, eating fish.

Don't love: threading my sewing machine, running out of sardines. Also, I'm allergic to tomatoes so while I love any offer of cooking from a guest or host, please mind that I will probably most likely break out in hives and be no fun if there's tomatoes in anything.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I was determined to see Tom Waits live so when he went on the Glitter & Doom tour I bought the closest tickets I could get to Maine...so...Knoxville, Tennessee. The weekend of the show, I drove 17hrs straight to the show, sat three rows back from the front and then crashed hard for the night with a couchsurfer host before waking up and driving home first thing in the morning so I could be back to work.

It was so worth it. The show was amazing, the east coast is beautiful and my host made me an amazing stirfry dinner.

I know: knitting, comic book lore, too much about James Joyce, snake facts. I worked in a fancy cheese shop for a while so at some point in my travels or hosting, there will almost always be a cheese board.

I'm trying to learn piano, spinning wool, and to speak Irish and French.

One thing I've learned traveling alone is that nobody really wants to see your pictures if you're not in them and it's really hard to get vacation photos with you in them that aren't a weird long arm selfie or a stranger snapping one speedy photo of you with your eyes closed at a terrible angle. As a host, I am more than happy to help you find your best angle to best show off your happy face and my gorgeous town...short of a full-on photoshoot over lunch.

More than happy to bring any weird New England cravings you have- whoopie pies, needums, maple candy, or All Dressed chips. I won't judge.

I can make a perfect soft boiled egg and an okay batch of peanut butter cookies. I have also found myself very fond of doing dishes or running to the shops when traveling since it gives me a quiet break from socializing.
