I'm married, with two adult children who no longer live at home, but with a small dog, 3 cats, tropical fish, 10 turtles and a 100 pound tortoise. We live in the house my great-great-grandfather built in 1889, along the banks of the Pompeston Creek. I currently work as a substitute teacher and head up a non-profit environmental group. My husband is a retired audio engineer who worked in the music business for more than 40 years. We actually live in Cinnaminson, NJ, directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, but are only a few blocks from easy to use public transportation, and can get to the city in about 30 minutes from here (which is sometimes faster than driving!)

My daughter has traveled all over the world, and Couchsurfing was very beneficial to her, and helping out travelers in need seems like a good way to pay back the kindness of others.

Locally known as "The Turtle Lady", I raise snapping turtles to be released back into the wild and do what I can to protect and preserve this misunderstood species. I like kayaking, bird watching, hiking and reading. As the head of "The Watchdogs of the Watersheds", I host creek clean-ups and do educational "turtle talks" all around NJ. I believe that it is our responsibility to care for the planet, and to use our voices to make the world a better place - I am a member of Food & Water Watch, and am no stranger to local, county and state government meetings and public hearings. "Just as the Lorax speaks for the trees, I speak for the turtles, snakes, lizards and bees!"

I like folk, acoustic, blue grass, as well as most everything from the 80s. I love comedies, especially Mel Brooks, and Stephen King is my favorite author, or maybe Dr. Seuss! My love of Halloween inspired me to come up with dozens of costumes, and I dress up for every holiday!
