About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting my bachelors degree in sociology

ABOUT ME

I am a 26 year old man living in Trondheim, Norway, studying social sciences with a focus on sociology. I am easygoing and open minded, but love a good discussion, especially on topics related to what I study (which basically means anything related to human behaviour and society).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only recently joined CouchSurfing, so I have not participated at all yet. I am very open to meeting anyone who happens to come by Trondheim, however, for a cup of coffee, a drink, or maybe some frisbeeing or other activities in a park in the vicinity of the city center.

Interests

Though I do not do it often enough, I quite like to play board games, preferably games that require some skill and strategic thinking rather than pure luck. Diplomacy is a favourite, and games like Junta and Dominion are also fun. Quiz games like Trivial Pursuit are not my sort of game, though.

I really enjoy sitting down over a cup of coffee or a glass of whisky to converse about human behaviour, social issues, philosophy, and politics.

I try to actively broaden my horizons. I have set myself a goal of going to at least one "proper" cultural event each month, outside of any my girlfriend is involved in, though I am honestly failing that goal. Still, I have managed to catch a few interesting exhibitions, lectures and discussions, so the goal is not completely in vain.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction. In the fiction department, the most read genres are probably fantasy and science fiction (Terry Pratchett being a favourite), but I've had numerous trips into other territories. I have a project going on where I try to get through some famous modern classics. It shouldn't be too hard, but is complicated by my great skills at a) being distracted, and b) reading too many books at the same time, eventually giving up on some of them because I've forgotten what they were all about.

When it comes to music, I find it hard to really put my finger on what I like. I enjoy artists spanning a range of different genres, though I suppose most of them gravitate around rock, metal and punk.

Lastly, I'll go for the easy one: Favourite movies. It's great to be a member of a movie reviewing site, as I just have to look at which movies I've given 5/5 points to tell you what I like. Here are five of them, in no particular order:

The Blues Brothers
Children of Men
Reservoir Dogs
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
The Pathfinder

Admittedly, the Pathfinder is really a horribly bad movie, but its entertainment value after a few glasses of whisky is almost unparalleled, at least if you are of viking descent. :-P
