À propos de moi

ABOUT ME

I'm more for quiet venues than raucous ones. I like small gatherings and board games, science fiction and epic music. Most of the time, I'm either online, playing video games, or working at the lab. I have big aspirations to affect the world or at least the people in it, and I think hard (or used to) about it.

Centres d'intérêt

I've worked four years in a research lab through college, and I'm planning to go back to graduate school in 2012 in California. I aim to research aging in life, and I'm driven by the belief that someday humans can live indefinitely. I enjoy philosophy (life & ludology especially). I also am a part of Toastmasters International, a group focused on helping people with public speaking and leadership skills.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

First one's easy: I was on a trip with my brother out to the Badlands National Park in South Dakota. We were just approaching the camping area at night when it started storming and hailing. We opted to go in anyway, and we immediately found ourselves out of the storm. Instead, all around us, in every direction, were lightning storms. We were smack in the eye of it all. It was beautiful and amazing, like nothing I'd ever experienced.

Second one would have to be a time when I was camping with some friends on Beaver Island, Michigan. I had gone out with a friend to bike an old trail way on the other side of the island. We end up running out of food and water and decide to head back. Feeling adventurous, we take a shortcut seen on a map I have. The trail is awful, full of mud tracks and mosquitoes through woods. It takes a miserable while, but we end up on the other side of the forest. However, when we look at the map, we find that we were turned around! We ended up spending two hours only to be half a mile further from our destination. It was this incredulous moment where all you can do is laugh, but it was a great bonding experience over hard times and dehydration.
