About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience and enjoy other places and people.

ABOUT ME

I am a Professional Layabout (i.e. retired) and man of leisure. Easy going, British sense of humour, can tend to laziness if not motivated or poke to do something. Enjoy company and will always try and see another's point of view (might not agree). I am not stuck in my ways and I am willing to experience new things. Oh and a bit of a techno geek, with all the boy toys. Oh Oh and love animals Cats, Dogs, etc.

PHILOSOPHY

Those who leave this world don't regret what they did...they regret what they did not do!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a 8m caravan that you can stay in, which I can tow to various free camping locations around Whangarei, also willing to share experiences of places I have lived in or travelled to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Why oh why did they not have the internet and couchsurfing in the 1970's and 80's. Only started recently surfing, and have already meet so many wonderful personalities. To get an idea of people encountered read my references of them. Even just after a few weeks I am certain I will be a committed surfer and host for a long time to come.

Interests

Travelling seeing and experiencing new places and people. Motorbikes and Cycling two wheel freedom. Rediscovered reading with my Kindle, SciFi, Fantasy, and dare I admit Regency Romance. Escapism literature. Computers, Internet.

Music, Movies, and Books

SciFi Fantasy books. Especially with humour like Terry Pratchett's Discworld books or Douglas Adams The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Also a must read are Tom Sharpe's books.

I am a sucker for animated movies, from Jungle Book in the 1960's to Rio of 2011. But the movies that really affect me are "One flew over the cuckoos nest" and "Midnight Express"

Music: I am stuck in a time warp in the 70's mostly with everything from Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Blues, to Carol King and James Taylor. Like Adele, and expanding my music tastes with Panadora.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Seen crocodiles chomping on wildebeest crossing the Masai Mara in Kenya.
2. Market in India people trying second hand glasses from British Health Service, not bad but next box was full of old false teeth and people were trying them in and putting them back in the box.
3. Sitting on top of the small Pyramid at Giza as Sun sets.
4. Tandem hang gliding off 700m cliff over Rio de Janeiro.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have many little tips for fellow travellers, and always willing to help and advise others on the destinations I have travelled to.
