About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is and always has been to create and foster awareness in those I meet.

ABOUT ME

I get really jazzed meeting new people. I *stay* jazzed when they want to talk, share, dance, debate, and/or eat, with me. I love learning new languages, new food, new ways of doing things. I suppose I've done and seen more than your average 30-year-old, but every time I see something new it just makes me crave more.

PHILOSOPHY

My life's mission is to create and foster awareness in myself and others. When I remember that I'm supposed to be expanding my own awareness, I do a much better helping others do the same.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've done very little. I've decided to start changing that by hosting people and surfing through CS myself. I do talk about it whenever I meet a traveler, though!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed on 4 continents with all kinds of people - some I knew extremely well all the way to total strangers. My biggest success, I suppose, was when a friend of a friend picked me up at Heathrow (London) airport, took me to dinner, gave me a place to nap, and got me to Gatwick airport, all in the space of 15 hours.

Interests

Generally, I'm up for most anything. I like to collect stories that I live. I travel to make stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's pretty tough to find movies or music I won't enjoy you sharing with me. A FEW of my favorite musicians: Billy Joel, Weird Al, Die Schuerzenjaeger. Some favorite movies off the top of my head: "Forrest Gump", "The Big Lebowski", "Spinal Tap", and "Men of Honor".

I'm more selective with books for some reason. A few favorites: "The River Why", "Life of Pi", "Crucial Conversations", and "Tipping Point".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A school of maybe 10 bio-luminescent squid hovered in a perfect half circle about half a meter away from me for at least 2 or 3 minutes while scuba diving in the Caribbean.

Teach, Learn, Share

My linguistics studies help me teach people to get rid of their accents when speaking English and mask my own accent fairly well when speaking even a new language.

Also I'm pretty good at that trick where you pretend to pull your finger off.

Countries I’ve Visited
