About Me

We are a globetrotting couple-turned-suburban parents with two beautiful boys. We love to travel, meet new people, learn new cultures, and explore new places.

We've been told that we're both polite and mild-mannered, but we also love the adrenaline rush of a thrilling adventure and generally love being outdoors. We also like trying new, exotic foods from all over the world (like sautéed rat, raw horsemeat sashimi, fried scorpions, raw duck blood salad, fermented mare's milk, and steamed beef brains just to name a few)

One of our travel goals is to visit 100 countries before we "kick the bucket". But more importantly, we hope to meet hundreds of great, interesting friends along the way and learn from their lives and experiences. We also hope to pass our travel bug onto our boys!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're big believers in the Couchsurfing philosophy of meeting new people, sharing experiences, helping others, having fun and learning about the world. We've had the great pleasure and privilege of staying and meeting up with dozens of Couchsurfing hosts and friends around the world. Virtually all have been positive experiences. Couchsurfing has helped to change our outlook on the world and to become global citizens. So now we help spread the word about Couchsurfing around the globe and have gotten dozens of people to try and love CS.

Interests

We love all kinds of things like: photography, traveling, volunteering, street food, jazz, great museums & planetariums, live theater and musicals, basketball, camping, biking, kayaking, hiking, and just about anything that allows us to see and learn about the world, meet new interesting people and have fun, unique experiences. We're also news junkies and love discussing and (politely) debating all sorts of topics. In addition, we're both passionate about community-based volunteering, especially for great causes related to public health, access to higher education, and financial literacy.

Music, Movies, and Books

We love watching films of all genres! There're too many we enjoy to name, but here are a bunch just off the top of our heads: The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Zero Dark Thirty, Robin Hood, The Hurt Locker, Avatar, Crash, The Departed, Inception, The Dark Knight series, Catch Me If You Can, The Great Gatsby, Collateral, Heat, The Pacific, Band of Brothers, Titanic, Final Cut, The Game, Schindler's List, Inglourious Basterds, Blood Diamond, Good Will Hunting, The Green Mile, The Jason Bourne series, The Truman Show, Contact, Jurassic Park, Eye In The Sky, A Time to Kill, virtually any Tom Clancy novel-film adaptation, The Exorcist, The Fugitive, The Sound of Music, and so many others.

We also love foreign-language films including Ajami, A Separation, The Past, The Rocket, Africa United, 3 Idiots, Tsotsi, Amour, and numerous Japanese dramas & anime such as From Up On Poppy Hill, Nodame Cantabile, Satomi Hakkenden, Departures, Proposal Daisakusen, 1 Litre of Tears, and Ah! My Goddess.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We've been incredibly fortunate to have seen and done so many amazing things, but by far our proudest achievement is having backpacked around the world, meeting up with and learning from hundreds of new friends along the way!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We always love sharing travel stories and going out for good food. Since we're also both experienced sales & marketing professionals, we can share tips and consult on projects in the areas of non-profit management, business development, marketing campaigns, and personal branding. Got a business idea or problem? Want some feedback on your resumé or CV? Maybe we can help!
