About Me

Back in Sicily! Moving into a new apartment, so hosting is a bit problematic until mid-September, but absolutely write in case of emergency or for recommendations. Always happy to meet.

A couple of basic tips for Requests, as I see a lot of new people struggling.
1. There's no need to offer stuff. Meeting someone interesting is the key CS reward. For hosts and guests.
2. Personalise. Why do you want to meet me?
3. Include your WhatsApp/Telegram/Signal for quicker replies.
4. Travelling with company? Let your host know who they are.
5. CS can be a great adventure - treat it like one. As with most things, more effort means a better chance for positive results.

Good luck!

ABOUT ME

My fave subject. Let's keep it short for a change. I'm over 2m tall, talk and joke a lot. I can't believe I'm in my 40's. I love all that's beautiful in the world. That's a lot of things, ideas and creatures to love, you know? And I still have some feelings to spare. Warsaw, where I was born and raised, is not really beautiful; I love it nevertheless.

PHILOSOPHY

Strive towards perfection without worries. How to avoid worries? "Be Drunk" by Baudelaire captures it quite well, really.

"You have to be always drunk. That's all there is to it--it's the only way. So as not to feel the horrible burden of time that breaks your back and bends you to the earth, you have to be continually drunk. But on what? Wine, poetry or virtue, as you wish. But be drunk. And if sometimes, on the steps of a palace or the green grass of a ditch, in the mournful solitude of your room, you wake again, drunkenness already diminishing or gone, ask the wind, the wave, the star, the bird, the clock, everything that is flying, everything that is groaning, everything that is rolling, everything that is singing, everything that is speaking. . .ask what time it is and wind, wave, star, bird, clock will answer you: "It is time to be drunk! So as not to be the martyred slaves of time, be drunk, be continually drunk! On wine, on poetry or on virtue as you wish."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really enjoy helping people discover all that's special in the place I live in, hosting, or just showing them around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted hundreds of people and enjoyed meeting almost every single one of them. Good part of that crowd I just loved. I'd take a bullet for some. About 2 of them I disliked. ALL of my hosts were brilliant.

Interests

Horse-riding, hunting and ceramics I'm not interested in. Try me on anything else though.

Music, Movies, and Books

If you're not interested in any - our communication might be difficult. If you didn't like The Wire, Rushmore, The Office (UK), La Haine, Magnolia, Community, Sex Lies + Videotapes, Please Like Me, Brooklyn 99, Kieslowski's 3 Colours, "Toxic" by Britney Spears, "Adorn" by Miguel, debuts of Nas, Arcade Fire, The Libertines, The Stone Roses, RATM and the xx (and their Angels), "Back For Good" by Take That, "Closer" by Joy Division (and NIN), anything written by Chekhov, Raymond Chandler, Czeslaw Milosz or Dylan Thomas, I'm sorry. That shortlist is very random and way too short - I've watched thousands of movies, made and wrote a couple of my own, I listen to music most of the time (dancing is one my favourite activities), and reading is the oldest and healthiest of my various habits.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A yearlong project I created and managed with a friend of mine, teaching teenagers from socially deficient areas on the magical art of movie-making.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help you with lots of things. Writing. Cooking. Running (stunning how few people do it properly). Soccer, basketball, volleyball. Reading poetry. Playing cards. Couch Surfing know-how. Various other topics. Just ask.

As far as learning, I love stories, and figuring out other people's ways of thinking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, cooking skills, a bottle or two, charming and delightful company. I'm a fount of knowledge. Drink it in.
