Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Began this trip in NZ’s Southern Alps, and planning on ending it in Bhutan’s Himalayas. Lots of diving and islands in between.
Eyes open or closed, always traveling.
ABOUT ME
I have a reputation for not fitting into any box. I guess I'll have to urn it. ;)
I try daily to promote curiosity over pride and to resist the urge to simplify. The moment, and whoever we share it with, is all we have. My motto is 'keep it funny.'
It´s about sharing the best of what we´ve found and impacting each other for life, saying goodbye to the hotel experience and welcoming the strange into the familiar.
PHILOSOPHY
Constant curiosity, consistently questioning = killing complacency.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed a variety of countries and homes and hope to begin reciprocating when this wanderlust fades for a spell. Some of the best people I have met are on couchsurfing.
Saying yes to many opportunities, and putting myself in situations that would not thrust themselves on me otherwise is the game.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
There have been the good times and the great times. CS has led to lasting friendships and unexpected collaborations. Sometimes we’ve run into each other again in other places. After this trip I’m trying to find a place where I can host as well.
Interests
Laughing with others, downhill skiing, scuba diving, excellent food, endless music, creative explosions, psychedelic madness, enjoying the arc of a day, spiraling trains of thought, the squiggle of a lifetime, the most of a moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As Nabokov put it, I have done more than I can speak about, and would not try to speak about it if I had done less.
1. I traveled overland through all thirteen countries in South America when I didn't really have enough money to do it. Then parlayed that into a job as a South America travel consultant, then shuffled the deck again and...well, here I am.
2. Traveled to every island nation in the Indian Ocean, ending with several months in Madagascar’s national parks.
3. Tried the fermented shark in Iceland, actually believing it was a good idea. Not worth it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about writing and can recommend all kinds of music, movies and authors. It enjoy creating long lists of good things in the world to reference and share with others. I think I have pretty decent taste.
As for learning, I have much more to learn than to teach. Teach me about the place where you live, what makes it special and what you wish were better about it. Teach me about the one thing foreigners get wrong about your culture, and where to find the best food.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am present and I ask a lot of questions. I'm genuinely interested in my hosts, otherwise I would book a hotel. In the past I’ve taken my host out for drinks, washed dishes, brought over rum, swapped travel tales and shared my eclectic library of music. I can cook a mean stirfry if the situation calls for it.
