One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the summer of 2018, I was staying at my grandparents house to help out, and had just gotten back from work when I heard my grandmother screaming from the backyard. I raced out back to find that my grandfather had collapsed from a heart attack while trying to cut down a tree by hand. I dialed 9-1-1 on my phone and gave it to my grandmother, heaved my grandfather off of the stump, and gave him CPR until the first responders arrived and revived him with the AED.

It was my introduction to the world of Cardiology, and the event that steered my down the path I'm now on, with hopes of becoming a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon.

Everyone's a little broken - it's only through the cracks that light gets in.

If it's not going to matter in five years, it's best not to get upset about it right now.
