About Me

My name is Tyler, I was born and raised in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. I've lived in Vancouver my whole life, and enjoyed every minute of it. I'm currently working as a marketing and sales coordinator for AAA Flooring, and I teach baseball to kids on the side as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm always excited to meet new people - I find meeting new people while traveling leads to some of the most fun and unexpected times while you are away from home. I look forward to hearing interesting stories and experiences from people I meet.

Interests

I'm a huge fan of sports - I played baseball my whole life growing up, and played 2 years of college baseball in BC. While I do love baseball, my true love is hockey (and my hometown Vancouver Canucks). I have played hockey since I was a young kid, it is definitely one of my passions.

I'm also an avid music fan, and listen to a wide variety of genres as you will see below. Some of my best memories involve seeing bands that I love live, and to me there is nothing better than going to a music festival with friends, and catching a weekend's worth of amazing live music.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:

I'm a huge music junkie, if I were to label all of my favourite artists, or even genres it would take me ages - I will try to narrow it down however. Some of my favourite musical artists right now in no particular order are:

Radiohead, Flume, Kendrick Lamar, Joey Badass, Isaiah Rashad, SZA, James Blake, Jungle, Gramatik, Ta-Ku, Tokimonsta, Shlohmo, Flying Lotus, Madlib, Death From Above 1979, Action Bronson, BadBadNotGood, Bonobo, Budos Band, Menahan Band, Vince Staples, Darius, Kaskade, Odesza, Stwo, Pomo, Kaytranada, Shigeto, Caribou,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

New Years Eve 2012 - I got out of my comfort shell, left North America for the first time, and visited one of my best friends in Hong Kong with 6 other good friends of mine. The trip ended up being one of the best experiences in my life, and is something I will always remember.

The culture shock of being in Asia for the first time was awesome, and it led me to make it my goal to travel more.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I actually do teach baseball and have for the past 8 years. I understand this is not practical but it would be what I'm best at teaching. I'll work on honing my craft in another, more practical area however

Learn:
Like I mentioned above, I am a huge music junkie. If there is anything I want to learn, it is how to produce music that I myself (who is very picky) would love to listen to. I guess you could say it's a goal

Share:
Experiences and stories. The main reason I got onto couch surfing is to meet awesome people while i'm away from home. To be able to share good conversation with hospitable people is always something I look forward to.
