Overview
About Me
I'm a Canadian living with my wife, kids, and dog in Austria for a few years. I'm an academic who writes about Jewish biblical translation and interpretation in the classical world. When I travel, I like meeting people and soaking up locals’ perspectives on the places I visit. I try to learn something from every Couchsurfing encounter.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A lot of people try Couchsurfing to save money when traveling, and that's 100% fine in my book. But I've become convinced the major benefit of Couchsurfing (for those who are willing to make the effort) is the human element it adds to travel—the hospitality, the insider perspective on places visited, the conversations, and the resulting web of friendships connecting the surfer to interesting people around the world.
Interests
I enjoy being active outdoors (running, biking, swimming, frisbee, climbing, etc.) and trying novel foods and beverages.

What I Can Share with Hosts
When I surf, I’m happy to share food, drink, and conversation with hosts. I like to bring a few groceries to share and to do what I can to leave a small footprint in my host's house.
When I host, I ask that guests do their best to communicate, to be tidy, and share something interesting about themselves. Maybe a recommendation about somewhere to visit, something to listen to, or something to read.
